Cipher Add Two Heroes and a Monster to Anima Tactics
October 22, 2012 by dracs
Cipher have announced the release of three new miniatures for Anima Tactics, including one which has to be one of the strangest and most twisted creatures in the range.
First up we have Kira.
Gah! No, not that Kira. This one is a far more pleasing miniature, though no less dangerous.
Along with this lovely lady we have Frederick Adler, possessor of a cool cape and awesome shoulder pads, that for once in wargaming don't look like they could crush his head when he lifts his arms.
Finally, we get to a true monster of a mini. Check out the sinister and stylish Type-020: Verrier.
This is a great miniature, from the protruding spine to the tortured form of the woman which makes up the thing. This is a truly maddening creature, which would be a brilliant monster even outside of Anima Tactics.
Cipher Studios have also announced that, to celebrate Halloween this month, they are offering a 25 % at their web store until the 31st of October.
So if you want to get your hands on any Anima Tactics or Hell Dorado stuff now is the time to head over to Cipher's Website.
How do you think these sculpts look? Are they stylish and well executed? Or do you think there are parts which could be improved upon?

Like Kira lots but once again feel that the concept art should have been followed.
That would have been even better imho
I don’t think I would like Freddie. He look a smarmy, pompous git! lol
Agree with you this time Sam! lol
The Verrier look like it would be a real nuisance to be up against,
Not sure what it could be in D&D but am sure it would be something.
Thumbs up overall from me and again hats off to Angel with the paint job
I am on the internet, therefore what I say must always be the truth.
Ah Sorry Sam, I was forgetting! lol
Frederick Adler is my fave of those three, but the range in general has some beautiful minis , I buy them just as painting projects, never played the game or even looked at the rules.
They always make fine models. Has anyone played the game? Like to know what its all about.
Haven’t played for a while. I like it a lot.
Works by activating characters alternately using Action Points.
Both players are always in the game as you have some ability to react to the other players move.
Characters belong to either Dark, Neutral or Light Factions, but also belong to one of the Organisations. (Empire/Church/Samael etc)
Wanderers are Mercs and can be bought by any Organisation.
The game isn’t as rock-solid as some of the top new properties, but it is much tighter than many of the sloppy old games still hanging around.
As @chibi says the has a terrific army construction method and a clever alternating activation style. There is an emphasis on reactive defensive abilities with the basic dodge being one of the strongest basic abilities. The core attacking mechanic is attack plus D10 (it’s a 1D10 system btw) minus opponent’s defense equals damage dealt.
Also, I don’t really think it is a strictly anime themed game; I think it is a Final Fantasy themed game.
I’d personally agree with what Chibi and dais had to say on the whole Mapug. I wrote a brief introduction to the game when I first started writing my Blog:

One thing I will say though is that the game does suffer a little with balance. Not everything seems to be pointed all that well, and often the game suffers from power creep, as in the newest stuff quite often is the best.
