New Chaos Additions from Forge World
April 13, 2011 by beerogre
Check out these new resin addtions to the hordes of Chaos from Forge World... first up is Tamurkhan on his Toad Dragon... here's what Forge World have to say about him.
The fell legend of Tamurkhan has been whispered for many centuries amongst the nefarious tribes of the Chaos Wastes. Some tales speak of him as a scion of the Great Kurgan, one of four sons each cast to the four winds to conquer and enslave. Others claim that he was once no more than vermin – a corpse-canker grown fat and clever on the spoils of the battlefield, swelled and transformed by the light of the Ruinous Powers. Perhaps the most fell creature under his command is the mighty Toad Dragon Bubebolos, a huge, reeking, primeval horror and greatest of all its bloated kind. Blessedly few in number, the Toad Dragons are lumbering horrors from a forgotten age whose flesh festers with unwholesome rot and whose black blood is clotted with maggots and carrion worms.
Followed by Sayl the Faithless and Nightmaw!
Sayl is pre-eminent among the Dolgan tribe, and his rise to ascendancy began with his allegiance to Schalkain the Vile, as one of his seven seer-apprentices. Sayl’s honeyed lies turned each acolyte against the others, and fanned the flames of suspicion into murderous strife. Eventually Schalkain was manipulated into conducting a dark rite involving Sayl and three fellow ‘loyal’ apprentices which resulted in Schalkain’s horrific death at the hands of a daemon beholden to Sayl, while the three surviving acolytes were twisted into a terrible beast known as Nightmaw. Hated and feared, Sayl the Faithless and Nightmaw now march alongside Tamurkhan the Maggot Lord.

What do you think guys?

it sure has one ugly mouth quite like the warlock model with his 3 ex-warlock spawn p.s you spelt download wrong
@bigneily p.s. you spelt download wrong
That’s because every time I write a post about 40K or Warhammer, a tiny little fairy dies cold and alone… 🙁
Fixed it anyway

…Then later on Darrel finds them, grinds the remains into powder, and uses the dust to power his dice.
be careful that could be taken the wrong way but yes i get a bad feeling when i think about the way gw is run seems these days its just intrested in your money thats 1 of the best things about BOW lets you see other game systems mind you cant say that i like warmachine. hope you could do a malifaux week as i love the minis they do but really want to see an indepth look b4 i commit to it
Me too- I’d love to see a few in depth videos about Malifaux. I’m intrigued by it, but I’d like to know more before i spend the cash.
Very nice models. Love the look. Nice to see some proper disgusting Chaos Nurgle stuff lol
Love that Toad Dragon! I know £125 is a lot but that’s a lot of mini, I’m afraid it’s on my ‘if only…’ list though as I’d have to start playing Fantasy again in order to get good use out of it, that said Chaos Warriors are probably the cheapest army to buy, but still I can’t afford it. Shame…one day maybe, one day (drifts into a lottery winning fantasy on-line spending spree of immense proportions and giving to charity to ease the guilt)…Thanks guys, first with everything, I see!
I do think if I ever won the lottery I would probably spend a faaaiiiirrrr amount on miniatures and wargames lol.
The dragon on its own is pretty good. I’m not a huge fan of “hideous monsters” preffering the more regal ones but I can still respect a really nice sculpt. Maybe if its mouth was closed and its head a little less plague ridden I’d be tempted, yeah nurgle has never been something I’ve liked. The rider of the dragon, and Nightmaw, though seem to suffer from the problem I have with a lot of the nurgle and mutated stuff from Forgeworld, a feeling of “I could do that.” They often just look to me like a pile of smooshed… Read more »
Forgeworld stuff is almost always amazingly cool, amazingly costly too and I think I’ve given GW quite a lot of my money already. Checking BoWs website more often than GWs, Its really nice to have a site that’s not only commited to one company/game system. Now do Mordheim! (so I can use my old already bought models in a “new” game).
A question to all you guys from UK and abroad where you can find lots of WH gamers ( I’m stuck in Brazil… very few gamers here).
You guys use a lot of those Forge World minis? What about the price and the every day tournament and such?
I usually buy them more for painting and collecting, but what about gamers from UK? Is it common to find those miniatures in armies and games?
cheers!
I think the painting and collecting part is probably the main thing for large models such as this dragon, and indeed things like the 40k titans. The smaller models certainly will see much more regular use play wise from more people due to price and ease of use I’d reckon. Monsters THAT big are by my understanding a tad handicapped in Warhammer Fantasy under the current rules what with the way Line of Sight works but that’s not to say people don’t use them for other games systems. The potential to use them could certainly be realised without much trouble.… Read more »
