New for Brushfire… Kernish Terrier
July 21, 2011 by beerogre
If you like your Axiony warriors for Brushfire to be tenacious and yappy... then it's the Kernish Terrier you want!
Personally mine will be painted to look like a... Cairn Terrier (a steely, blue-grey) as I used to have one!
Just new in... check out this painted version of the Heavy Brigadier by one of our members... @gaarew
... and here's a picture of an Axiony Warband...

Its a fun figure but collecting this style of mini, to me, is no different than collecting Sylvanian Families. Not my cup of tea AT ALL. 🙂
Grwyfriars Bobby goes to war!
We used to have a Westie so white it would be for me Andy!
If Cairns are as fiesty as Westies then wither would be a good choice.
Our little terrier chased off Alsations!
Nice one @cyporiean!
Thanks, the credit goes to @gaarew. His is in the process of painting several miniatures for us, so more pics soon.
I think Sylvanian Families is a bit harsh. [insert type of animal]-men are a staple of fantasy and have been since the days of antiquity. Just because this range draws upon more domesticated or obscure animals is to their credit. It would have been easy to simply use the rat/lizard/wolf/tiger etc. that we see all the time. That’s not to say those do not exist in the range, but there are more unique models too and that is a refreshing departure from the norm. If you play D&D 4th edition (like we do at the studio) there is a race… Read more »
I think some of the Brushfire minis are a bit crude. However, this furry theme is very original, but I think they have a ways to go before reaching the standards of the industry today in terms of sculpts… and the paint job could be better…

@elromanozo – I have some of the Brushfire miniatures here at the studio… I showed you the Badger-at-Claw… there’s no way that’s crude!
As for the painting… perhaps the master could give us a demonstration?
Who ?
Oh, you mean me ? Flatterer !
You know very well flattery will get you everywhere…

Indeed I do!
@beerogre … I can see where you’re coming from but this style of ‘cutesy’ miniature just doesnt do anything for me at all. It is true that every mini has its ‘place’ but, as always, it comes down to a matter of personal taste and i just dont get inspired but what i consider the ‘light hearted’ side of miniature design. I understand that there are certain archetypes that designers go for all the time and it can get a bit boring and difficult to find the right minis to represent certain things in games but i cant help looking… Read more »

Each to their own as you say
If I stop to analyse anthropomorphism I just don’t get it tbh
But then I wouldn’t enjoy Bugs Bunny if I rationalised it instead of going along with the precept.
There is a long tradition from Aesop’s Fables to Kung Fu Panda
I like that not all games are grimdark serious
The greater the diversity the better
Im half man, half pug in name. I think that sets my view on the anthro topic. The more the better WOOF! By the way, any chance a pug man be in the work any time soon?
I find that Pugs are adorable, and since I have a good influence in what gets put into the line… there is a chance. I could see them ending up in either Axony or Chugoku. We like giving people what they want, so if there is a species you want to see in Brushfire let us know. Alot of the requests we get are things we’re already planning, and seeing actual demand for something allows us to better set release schedules. An example would be the often requested Bears & Wolves… which is why the Ursal Khanate will be one… Read more »
I like these actually!! gotta love some furries
Sharp and fine fur detail with dynamic poses would make these hard to resist.
Animals-
killer bunnies/hares, dogs, cats (ad&d Rakasha would appeal, also traveller Aslan), bears (dont forget polar, brown, black, panda etc), wolves, stoats, rat, mouse, dormouse, weasels, fox, mole, badger, meerkat (simples) and any other furry mammal
(think Alice, witch in the wardrobe, wind in the willows, fritz lieber and watership down amongst many others)
doh…just downloading free rules. See many concepts already in the game
I think Stoats are the only thing on that list that aren’t current in Brushfire or planned 🙂
