A Barbaric Warrior goes Limited Edition with Studio McVey
March 23, 2012 by brennon
Check out this latest Limited Edition run of a resin model from Studio McVey. Limited to just 750 pieces, this is the warrior woman Grizzel with a definite score to settle.
Grizzel stands at 60mm tall (including base) and would be a superb way to showcase your painting skills. Another great model from Studio McVey and I have no doubt it will go pretty fast.
Will you be picking up this warrior woman?

Nope not for me.
The quality of sculpting is fantastic as ever with Studio Mcvey.but I find it a tad cheesy
Bikini clad women is getting very boring and I fear for the poor lass. The fur boots and cape suggest a cold clime. Confirmed by the snow scatter on the base. She will catch her death
The dino could be a cool cold one for a leader.
This – also the rider doesn’t look overmuscled so she could fit into a dark elven army as a champion or lord choice.
A fantasy style rider seems a better fit to the mount – could this mark a decision to make models with more general appeal? Ruby was just as lovely a model but was a cowgirl on a dino so didn’t exactly fit into whole armies…still whatever they do, as long as it’s this well made, I’ll like it.
And may I just say thank you for bringing up Ruby. I can’t get my head around the bikinis-on-ice aesthetic, as fine as the sculpt for Grizzel is, but Ruby on the other hand is all good. Actually, as soon as you said “cowgirl on a dino” I was formulating a theory… a determined player could mount some guardsmen on regular plastic cold ones – the Dark Elf ones look to be a better bet than the Lizardman variety – hack together some slightly high-tech lances and they’d have roughriders… I wonder if you can field a mounted commisar? Ruby… Read more »
I don’t have a problem with the stereotypical “female barbarian in inappropriate clothing” and certainly not this one the sculpt is brilliant. Sadly the dino leaves a bit to be desired for me. Seems to be based on an allosaurus but the back legs just don’t seem large or powerful enough for the size of the body. The front legs seem a bit odd too, they are kind of in a strange mid size. Too short to be used when running, but too big for a creature that mainly relies on its hind legs and bite. I love the concept… Read more »
im glad u said about the dino i didnt even notice it was there
It would appear I am as picky about my dinosaurs as I am about my femme fatales.
First thing that I thought when I saw this was that she looks like Dark Elf Sorceress riding Cold One.
It’s a dinosaur.<—-INSTANT WIN
With the added bonus of a scantily clad homicidal chick on top.
And all beautifully sculpted.
Seriously, what's not to like?
Loving it as a DE hero
Actually there are games out there with cowboys and dinosaurs where Ruby would be at home on the range.
(Not every mini has to be a GW stand in, other games systems are available 😛 )
Looking at the model again IMHO there isn’t a problem with Dino’s legs
But was also thinking that she should put the trophy head on a pole and dangle it in front and just out of reach, carrot on a stick style, to make Dino go faster.
+2D6 to movement
snakes eyes = head fallen off pole. Miss a turn while Dino chows down.
Heh, actually my second thought was Ariadna… Waaay out on the frontier 🙂
