Madame Butterfly stings like a bee!
Love it! Another sculpt on the wish list
She looks magnifizent.
I think this is a Yannick Hennebo sculpt… Very nice !
Can confirm that it is Romain
(but only because someone asked on Facebook lol)
Mike put a full entry on his blog about this mini, which goes into a bit more detail about it:
“Azumi is one we’re really pleased with – the concept she comes from was fantastic – it’s another great piece from Roberto Cirillo, and I’ll post it here some time soon. Yannick (again!) was the sculptor – and delivered his usual amazing work. I’ll post some pictures of the resin, so you can see the mind-blowing detail he captured.” –

Did Mike paint this? I thought Mike was doing sculpts and only painted on occasion. The blog mentions the sculptor but not the painter? The only reason I can think of that he didn’t credit the painter is because he did it himself.
I dont think my current painting skill would do a mini like that justice. That’s a level I hope to reach one day.
You will with time and practice. I’m testiment of what you speek of.
Wow…beautiful mini masterfully painted. I’d love to look into this one for the upcoming VC release. If the rumoured bloodlines make a comeback she would make an amazing Lahmian Vampire general.
Or a great Immortals character for Helldorado.
This is a rather nice model but what makes it great is the painter that did all that free hand work that just brings the mini alive.
Studio McVey never disappoint, another ace mini.
Ok I will ask again because I really would like to know – and my other post is buried up above… anyone know who painted this? The sculpt is great but its the paint that really stands out.
Could be wrong but I assumed that Ali McVey was the studio’s painter and therefore did this one as well.
Hard to be sure. I just went back to the site again and looked at their credits pages, and it looks like they stopped adding anything after 2007, perhaps all they show on those pages are non-MVey minis. I know the last time I read the blog, and its been a while admittedly, Mike was shifting over to full time sculpting, and I thought Ali was doing the same. Ali does some really great stuff with capes / robes, and this does seem to match her style, so you may be on to something.
Now that is art.
I’ll bring it round for you to have a look at when it arrives mate 😀
