Ax Faction Paint up their Female Hunters
July 2, 2012 by brennon
You might remember we showed you some of the models coming out of a new company, Ax Faction. Well here is a painted version of their Kraken Hunter below as well as an updated pieces for the Troll Hunter...
It's really interesting to see the model painted up so you can view what the final product would look like. A good mix of the eldritch and the steampunk as well as of course an awesome sculpt. You can grab her from the Ax Faction store now too so be quick!
And giving you an idea of exactly what was going to happen with Jotnar's Bane, check out this now painted image of the Troll Hunter. Can't wait to see the model and I seriously hope it actually is mounted on a massive troll head...
Will you be picking up these Hunters?
Now when I see that female kraken hunter painted I am liking it even more than before.
With both artwork and sculpts I think Ax Faction is going less for pure realism and more for the feel of a graphic novel in their line – for example the painted Kraken Hunter, even given the muted blues in her clothing, seems ‘brighter’ than I would have thought for the subject matter. This is actually a good thing though as it makes the model really stand out and adds a different flavour to the setting, a bit like the repaints of the Relics models.
It really has that comic book feel to them. It looks real good for style and taste.
both ordered 🙂
The only “flaw” are faces- that’s the only area which (IMHO) can be upgraded. Comparing concept art and final miniature face of miniature seems to be a bit inferior (longer and with generaly changed proportions). In any case- I absolutely love those and will surely buy all their stuff.
Wow … I didn’t know they had silicone breast implants during the Victorian era, nor such whoreish fashion standards. Seriously. This can’t be called “Victorian” if it looks more like a Lady Gaga video … I’m sorry but this is tripe for a “Victorian” anything. Other than that the models are awesome, great sculpts, the paint job on this model is amazing as well. I’m just so tired of all the played out cliches in miniature gaming. Apparently most people buying these niche models though are completely are misogynistic and that is the only portion of the market that these… Read more »
“Victorian” does not simply have to mean “historically correct for 1837-1901 period” anymore. “Victorian fantasy” is a genre of its own, and since this particular mini is not in historical miniatures section, we can probably presume it belongs just there. Thus historical inaccuracy of costume, behaviour and whatever else is inaccurate here. Market and its shape ? Well… that’s what it is. It is driven and shaped by customers, not by some hidden cult or goverment agency. Apart from that, if we would like to be so correct, no female adventurer should appear in anything victorian. By standards of era… Read more »
