October 5, 2011 by dracs
Arrr me hearties, be ye lookin' fer some ships to be wagin' some high seas combat with? Well that scurvy crew over at Ainsty Castings have just the treasure ye be seeking.
These ship shape minis be perfect for engagin' in all manners of 28mm nautical combat. So gather yourselves a crew and get to plunderin' and pillagin' more wenches and mead.
Will any o' you landlubbers be furnishin' yourselves with one o' these fine ships? What do you think o' the craftsmanship itself? Be sure to leave your thoughts in the comments below deck. Arr.
Arr Aye been scouring the high seas for a suitable vessel for me Freebooters and not seen anythin worthy. There’s been naught but a bucnh of mangy crates not fit for Davy Jones’s locker!
Was figuring on buildin me own ship but this might hit the black spot!
BAH! Curses young Sam
You made me miss my train looking at these ships!
May your barnacles itch for a week! 😛
I want two so they can be locked in a boarding action!
Hmmm gotta look at the price now and see how much blood i can donate.
Only 2 you’ll need at least two of each – they are now on my list … some time before the end of the year there seem to be a day, where even she who crack the whip can be won over to buy toys 🙂
A fair amount of blood will need to be sold if you want two!
£75 for the man o’war.
Am guessing it does not include rigging and sails for that eirther which is a pity
Crows nests and spars would be really cool
Very nice, would just forgo a board and just use two of these laden with crew and do Cutlass! lol
For the size of them thats not that high in costs. Its rather cheap for a big ship like that.
The Man o War is fantastic and not badly priced at all IMO
These are gorgeous. I saw them in person at the recent Derby World Wargames and have another couple of pics of them on my blog (quirkworthy.com). I don’t think any rigging/sails come with them, but then again if it did you’d be forever cursing it for getting in the way of moving your pirates on deck. It’s hard to know where to draw the line between realistic ship and gaming piece, and I think they’ve done OK here. The three ships look great side by side, and I was thinking that any 2 of them gives you a boarding action… Read more »
Was wondering how easy it would be to swap a rigged set of sails for just the masts.
Would be cool to have a model with rigging for display but agree about them getting in the way for play
That’s what I was thinking. At least, some way of having the sails and rigging removable so you could actually get to the models when you needed to. Shouldn’t be too hard.
Is a pretty large chunk of resin and presumably a small(ish) production run
Quirkworthy had a couple of pics on his blog from the Derby Wargames show so has seen them in the flesh and was suitably impressed
I was 🙂
I know what I will have for Christmas this year….
These look perfect for the Cutlass board our group is making for the Gloucester MiniCon and Salute next year.
