New Guild Ball Boxes Spotted In The Wild
March 30, 2017 by brennon
New Guild Ball Team Boxes were spotted for Steamforged's awesome game out in the wild. They appear to be priced at around £50 a piece and come with six characters...
So far we've seen the boxes for Fishermen, Engineers and Butchers.
According to folks online these boxes are still going to be metal and will require some assembly but they offer up a great way to not only try out the game with a few players but then expand it to include new characters down the line.
We are likely to see new teams done in plastic and for now we have these metal characters to play around with.
Thanks to Hall Of Legends for spotting this...
What do you make of the new boxes?

Good that these are still metal. I don’t like the new cheap plastic models, the farmers guild have rather static poses (I assume this is a side effect of switching to the cheap material / single cast? models)
From what I understand the future plastic models will be multi part preassembled plastic. Someone from Steamforge was on Guild Ball Tonight ep. 57 to discuss the concerns regarding the switch. So they are trying to keep current fans happy while reducing costs to help in the wallet region. I for one am excited to see what is coming.
… and people whine about GW’s prices. Lovely minis but eff me, they are expensive. Makes Malifaux look cheap by comparison. At least you don’t need many of them I suppose.
Difference is one of these and you need not buy anything else to play a full game, you probably will but need not. Quality is stunning, some of the best metal casting I have seen.
Plus if you want to do a direct comparison these are all character models, which on the GW price scheme is £15-22 roughly in plastic – so not so expensive.
Compare to Malifaux or WM/H instead then. The GB sets are £18-20 more expensive for the same / similar number of “character” minis.
I am sure the metal castings are great and all but alas at this price I’m unlikely to find out.
You could always just buy Kick Off and get full Brewers and Masons teams for the same price as one of these.
I could indeed. The price on that is much more acceptable.
Malifeux is definately cheaper, you need a bigger mini pool normally from my limited understanding. However I’d prefer to pay more for metals, I like metal minis. The new teams in plastic I assume will reduce cost. I am fairly confident they will be reasonable quality as I trust steamforge to not compromise quality.
I will admit to a bias towards steamforged as it’s a great game, I like their business style and management and they are still a very young company.
I does however highlight the relative value we place on minis.
All of those are really good looking models.
Fantastic minis, need to finish of my starting 6 for engineers before these go into boxes. It’s a great idea and now the game has grown a better start point.
This helps the beginner start at least.
I don’t think this will be as expensive as £50. The fishermen box would be:
Old starter £20
Greyscales £9
Salt £7
Kraken £14
That’s totals £50. Surely there would be a slight discount for buying whole team?
Unfortunately the Steamforge webstore has them listed at that price. No discount over the individual pieces
