Gun Down Rebels With The TIE Interceptor For X-Wing
February 19, 2013 by brennon
X-Wing is a firm favourite with most of us here at Beasts of War and so every time we hear the news of an upcoming addition to the game we have to take a closer look. Check out the TIE Interceptor from Fantasy Flight Games...
Not only does this set allow you access to one of the best fighters in the Empire's armoury but its most famous pilots too. If you're going to have someone pilot one of these deadly craft you can't leave it in the hands of a simpleton can you!
There is plenty more on the statistics and choices you can make about the TIE Interceptor over on the Fantasy Flight website linked at the top but as always it would be great to hear what you think of this addition to the Empires armada.
Drop a comment below and let us know what you think of X-Wing!

I was quite surprised by how well these ships performed on the table when I got to use them for one game at a tournament. If you find yourself low on funds and you have to choose between two of these interceptors or one Slave-1, get the interceptors. They’re really fun ships to play with, and they finally give the Empire some reliable turn-after-turn hitting power. This next wave of ships is really going to alter the list-building strategies of most players. Feels like the game is getting fleshed out and rebalanced almost.
had a small test game the other day (finally) and love the mechanics still undecided as to which side yet but those look like some tasty abilities there
seen a couple of Kessel Run videos and i must say come Salute this year i’ll be picking up at least 1 of every wave 2 ship and another couple of the wave 1’s. love this game and can’t wait to pilot slave 1 around my board 😀
Not being terribly knowledgeable of the lore, how many ships that would fit into the scale of this game (aka starfighters) were there in the original series? IIRC they’re about there with the line, aren’t they?
Does anyone know if there are plans to expand into the prequels or perhaps even the animated series?
i think they’ve got enough ships for another wave before delving into expanded universe ships (TIE bomber, B-wing etc), but i don’t think clone wars era ships would be out of the question. ARC-170’s would be nice to see.
As far as ships from the actual trilogy are concerned (the good trilogy, not the Jar Jar one) they have only two small ships left to release, the B-wing and the Tie Bomber. After that, the only ships remaining from the movies are shuttles or larger warships. There are still a few ships from the extended universe lore that could fit within the timeline being depicted so far, but most fans would not actually recognize those ships if they saw them (and some of those ships are just kind of dumb, like the M-wing which is neither ‘M’ shaped nor… Read more »
theres also z headhunter’s the scout variant of the tie the pirate fighters i cant remember the name of…. also considering the falcon and slave 1 are frigates we may see corellian corvette’s and gunships plus the tartan patrol cruiser 😀
I’d love to just get hold of the actual game!
I hope the interceptors make a difference for the empire
