Troll Slayers & Witch Hunters Join The Warhammer Quest Card Game
June 17, 2016 by brennon
Fantasy Flight Games have made me feel very happy today as they have announced they are releasing two new heroes for the Warhammer Quest: The Adventure Card Game. Welcome the Troll Slayer and the Witch Hunter - epic...
These packs will provide you with two new characters for the game with their action cards (plus upgrades) and of course their magical weapons which can be found throughout the adventure. First up, the Witch Hunter.
The Witch Hunter's playstyle is based around planning ahead. A lot of the cards have benefits in the moment but also can be combined together with later Action Cards so that you can gain additional boons. I think that plays nicely into the narrative of the Witch Hunter on the tabletop.
Now the angry one, the Troll Slayer!
As you might imagine the Troll Slayer is based around getting stuck into a battle and fighting as many enemies as possible. Of course this means that you're going to be getting hit a lot but many of the Slayers actions allow you to heal up or gain additional benefits so you won't go down too early.
Will you be picking this up?

Damnit. I saw the headline and thought ‘ooh, how interesting, I like the look of these, although I’m surprised and interested to see how they fit in’.
Then clicked on the article and realised these were card expansions for the FFG game, not miniature expansions for Silver Tower.
Well you can get a Slayer for Silver Tower via the app @angelicdespot if that helps heh.
But trust me, the card game is REALLY good

IMHO it’s not a patch on the Pathfinder ACG but it’s suited to shorter game sessions and for now, at least, it is a lot easier to throw it in your backpack and take somewhere. I’m glad that we are finally seeing some new character options for the game though because the content in the box was getting a little stale 🙂
I’m not normally very interested in card games, which is why I haven’t thought more about this one, but it’s not just your recommendation @brennon , the WHQ card game does actually look very interesting. I may yet pick it up at some point. I’m more likely to do that than get the app for Silver Tower. I will almost certainly get the game at some point – if only for the models – but I’m not very interested in combining apps with tabletop games. Besides, I was really hoping for new plastic character minis that look the artwork for… Read more »
look at the artwork and atmosphere of that game!
I like Silver Tower – but a grimy Old World version of Warhammer Quest would have been so good.
In my twenties I used to ‘enter’ derelict buildings 🙂 seeing anything mouldy I would cry out “found some stone bread”
It is kind of a shame GW never makes models that match the FFG character designs. I was just looking over some of the 80s catalogues where they’d put out a dozen of more individual minis to represent the characters mentioned in their Warhammer battle boxes, or books for the roleplaying game. It’s too bad it can’t be that way anymore.
Looks cool. Would be good to see some new campaigns as well 🙂
I am all in on this. To hell with Silver Tower (pretty as the components are): this is proper Warhammer Quest! 🙂
