March 23, 2018 by brennon
It has been a long wait for many but Star Wars: Legion is now available for you to snap up from your local retailers by Fantasy Flight Games.
The Core Set for the game is now available and contains both Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker clashing alongside their respective forces from the Rebel Alliance and the Empire.
If you're interested in checking out the contents of the Star Wars: Legion Core Set we have an Unboxing for you to check out below.
And, if you want to find out more make sure to follow all of our Star Wars: Legion content HERE too. Not to mention we have an awesome Core Set Let's Play for you to watch...
...and a look at the massive Downed AT-AT table that we brought to life.
If that hasn't got you excited for the game then we don't know what has. Make sure to head on over to our Hobby & Painting Forum as well to share your work on your new models like community member @collins did earlier this week.
Expansions!
As well as the Core Set, Fantasy Flight Games have also released some additional boxes for both the Rebels and the Empire so you can expand your forces.
Once again, if you want to check out more about all of these expansions for the game we did some Unboxing content with Dawn & Gianna over in the US Studio.
Rebel Unboxings

Depending on where you are in the US shipments may have been delayed. I was lucky to get the Core Kit for now and I am waiting the other expansions. So far, everything looks good and the miniatures are better than anticipated. The various forums have indicated that some have been missing parts or having two heads or missing an arm so for some people some first day frustration that I am sure that FFG will help fix. My brother and I will be playing this Saturday at a local launch day event and I hope to score some of… Read more »
Have 2 cores and 1 of every expansion, including Leia, Veers and the other 2 units. Have just seen the Solo and Rebel Commando’s announced too. Jumped in B**ls deep on this one.
Got a link for them?

Just waiting for Leia, Veers and their troop releases to arrive towards the end of next week,
@wesdie1969 I imagine @darthcheese meant a link for the Solo and Rebel Commandoes. That’s what I’d be interested in anyways… 😉
There you go:

I’m not impressed by Han’s miniature.
But I salute to the fact they actually included a Dressellian on Endor.
@wesadie1969 sorry for missing that “a”.
Yeh the Solo mini is really poor.
@brennon ‘s question:
I *would* go Rebellion. They are the ones with the cool attitude after all.
…but I like the Dark Side, too. No question.
Coolest thing would be models for Rebels as in Rogue One – the guerillas and commandoes are just awesome. Yes, especially the aliens.
But official military grade Rebels would be great, too! Again as in Rogue One the x-wing commander e.g.
Starting imperials. Will decide on a rebel theme later. Core, at-at and extra stormtroopers built bar bikes, slight mis-pack. Grabbing bike expansion.
Love the game I have had, minis are great and building 800 points in 2.5 hours at a leisurely pace is refreshing.
The figure’s are first rate for the game.
Empire..For now 😎
I picked up 2 starters… and my son chose Empire (as ***ing always). Guess who’s got the fussy paint job!?
@coxjul
Rejoice. He does. 😀
Painting white right* is already a tour de force. On top of that it needs the propper Stormtrooper shine.
And then there’s all black, too.
And grey. Ever tried to find the right tone of grey for each of the imperial vehicles?
* yeah – meaning so that it looks cool. Slap on wall paint and black wash does deserve severe mockery. 😉
It’s Empire all the way for me 😀 .
I’m going Rebels , Those Commandos look great , should go well my ” Screaming Lizard ” figure I’ve got coming from Brother Vinni . Just need to find a Jyn figure and I can have a Rogue One game
Rebels… so many empire players, will be gaming alot
Waiting to see how the game pans out whilst I finish some other projects before jumping in
Soooo SW Legion… being a Star Wars fan I was interested right from the start. In addition, the more of the rules were introduced, I realised that the game shares some key design elements with my Victory Decision rules. Movement, Suppression markers, alternate unit activation etc. Always a nice, warm feeling! 😉 The one thing that soon made my less happy were the 1st miniature pictures, for whatever reason FFG chose a different scale as in their Imperial Assault miniatures. So after getting the game a couple of days ago, I decided to assemble a squad of Stormtroopers and line… Read more »
I wouldn’t be surprised if the decisions were the results of Disney & co specifically requesting/demanding that there be no cross-over potential with IA …
(remember : IA also has a ‘skirmish’ rule set … )
Of course that doesn’t exclude FFG making stupid decisions. They’ve still got humans doing the work.
I suppose it’s not very far fetched they’d like you to buy both… 😉
This is the very reason why I’m not buying it or bother playing it .l have spent a lot of money on imperial assault which I’m very happy with and FFG have lost most of my gaming club freinds on this one. As far as I aware only 2 have bought the starter set. The rest of us will continue with IA.
Over all SWL looks interesting and I am SW fanboy but I am not sure if I want to spend money to get into it without knowing if there are others in my area that will play it and without first getting chance to try it out with nice demo game. I am not going to go blind into any licensed miniature wargame no matter what that license is.
Haven’t picked this up yet, if I do I’m leaning more towards Imperials though.
If I were to pick sides then it would have to be Rebels.
Why ?
Who in the world would want to walk around in shiny white armour ?
It may work on an ice planet, but every other planet you’d be *beeped*
Rebels at least attempt to have sensible camouflage …
