Han Shoots First + Rebel Commandos In Star Wars: Legion Previews
March 26, 2018 by brennon
Commander Han Solo and a group of deadly Rebel Commandos have been drafted in as future releases for Star Wars: Legion in new previews by Fantasy Flight Games.
Armed with his DL-44 blaster, Han Solo is a dangerous customer to come up against on the tabletop. He is able to make two shots each turn, targetting different units with his attacks if you so desire. He will almost always hit his target too, and the gun itself can punch through some heavy armour.
He even has an awesome card, Sorry About The Mess, which guarantees that you get to go first and equips him with both an aim and dodge token at the same time, making him one of the most prepared characters on the tabletop. Admittedly, you only get to activate him, but when used right it could swing the balance.
Rebel Commandos
As well as Han Solo we have the unit that could find itself under his command with some Rebel Commandos. Deadly snipers, assassins, saboteurs and more, they are some of the best of the best the Rebel Alliance has to offer.
As you might imagine, these troops are incredibly well trained and deadly at what they do. As well as coming as a larger unit as you can see above you can also break them down into a smaller squad, perfect for infiltration missions and sniping individuals from distance.
You can also equip them with explosives, ready to run up to vehicles and make sure they don't cause any more problems for your hunkered down forces.
It will be very interesting to see what the specialists will be for the Empire going forward. A lot of people have been talking about potentially seeing Death Troopers brought to the fore from Rogue One.
What would you like to see the Empire get as their specialist unit?

Those are really nice. I was looking if those Rebel Commandos include Captain Rex as it’s now canon that that old Rebel Commando on Forest Moon of Endor was Captain Rex. They confirmed it in epilogue of the Star Wars Rebels that it was him.
I did not know that. I think we’ll see Rex as a Commander at some point.
We might see a card for him, but we already have him as a mini with the rebel trooper pack
hes one of the standard rebel trooper sculpts!
Great troop choice to add to Legion. I am glad it wasn’t Hoth Troopers. Although i like the Hoth battle, want to give Endor a try
Wasn’t that interested in this but the more I see the more I like. Definitely going to be thinking about an order come payday
That Han mini is kind of fugly.
I think it might be the paint scheme – hoping to see some alternative schemes online. Would be a shame if it wasn’t as nice as the others.
Yeah I’m really hoping it was just a rushed paint job to get them out for Adepticon. From what we have seen so far though he is a let down. I would have preferred the pose on the box to the one they used as well.
The good news is that they are very likely to do another version of him at some point so we will probably see a better one later!
I like the commandos though. Nice idea making them into two different unit sizes.
Likewise. I’m loving everything so far and hope this is the case.
No, it looks nothing like Han Solo. It’s not a great sculpt
Is that meant to be Han Solo? The mini needs a serious re-sculpt before release. Trash, pure trash. The commando team are nice.
I would go so far as to say that the Imperial Assault miniature looks better than that one
When I get to expanding my rebels these will be on the list. Han doesn’t look the best but will see when we get better pics. Ruleswise both look interesting.
In Imperial Assault, Han’s special rules were all about him shooting second (if someone shoots him and misses, he gets a free shot at them).
However, Greedo’s special rule is that whenever he tries to shoot someone, they get a free shot at him first.
So I’m not sure which side FFG comes down on.
The ultra controversial ‘Han Shot Twice’ side.
;p
Han shot first, and then, after Greedo missed him, he shot again.
I could get behind that.
Personally, I’d like his rules to reflect the way he reacts to seeing Vader in Cloud City. Han doesn’t even take a second glance.
Is Hans a Solo? character or does he have to be with a unit.
He is a Commander miniature, so he will indeed be ” solo “.
the clue is in the name i suppose 😉
I’m beginning to think that the rebels would make interesting alternatives for 40k imperial guard.
Stolen from the FFG forums: “That Han Solo looks like he’s been eating Chewie’s portion” 😀
I really hope it’s just a bad paint job. The Imperial Assault Han is really nice, kind of dumb if FFG messes this up.
Love those Rebel Commandos though!
Those will be good adds to the table.
Now we need Imperial reenforcements! One thing we could use: Imperial Officers. Why not Scout Troopers on foot, or maybe they were only using them as speeder pilots?
Personally, i think its a great sculpt. Its the best mrs doubtfire ive ever seen.
Ha, ha!
Like to think Robin Williams would smile to this.
“We’re increasing the scale of the models from Imperial Assault to allow for more detail and clarity.”
“…Never mind that second part. Models are bigger.”
That seems to be the case. I like Legion but the fact is the models are soft plastic, lack any customisation options that don’t involve cutting the models with a knife, and are neither hobby enough for hobby fans nor particularly starter friendly for newbies to wargames.
I like that the Commandos have an Alien in the set and that adding these to the 1st set of Rebel troops gives you 14 unique figures .
Ahem, two aliens. A Mon Cal and a Dessellian (both species introduced on Home One prior to Endor).
People might remember the action figure of the latter one from the Robot Chicken Star Wars specials as “prune face”…
If they are releasing that figure as their first version of Han Solo, they must be out of their minds.
Here is the picture I took of Han at Adepticon. I am not a fan of the sculpt or the paint job on this one. This could have been a rush job, though.
It looks more like Hannah Solo.
I was on the fence, love star wars, love miniatures but so far the sculpts have all been a little meh. For the character models I would have expected them to up their quality but I haven’t seen that from the box game miniatures or this offering. Hopefully this is them starting out and they will only get better and suck my money in but at the moment the force is weak in this one.
Like the look of the commandos, but agree Han looks a bit iffy.
Han is simply farcical, I have commented in FFG webpage trying to obtain an answer to that strange looking models. Leia was not good, but Han is laughable. I can’t believe they can’t do it better, a company that has permission for years to make products with Star wars franchise is suposed to achieve some mínimum of quality… this is not quality, dot. This is risible and silly. Some argue the painting could be the problema, then the painjting is also risible and farcical and laughable and all the things i have said about the mini: anyway i don’t understand… Read more »
Sorry…no….that is just wrong! If only knight models could re-release their miniatures….we should be getting something like this: http://theminiaturespage.com/boards/msg.mv?id=239163
… Hasbro has done better sculpts than this attempt at Han!
I am sure this one has been the artist behind the Han Solo mini…
