Fantasy Flight Reveal Skirmish Take On Star Wars: Legion
November 22, 2019 by brennon
Fantasy Flight Games has been showing off a new Skirmish format for Star Wars: Legion. Played out on a 3x3 tabletop rather than 6x3, this style of game is meant to be for quicker and lighter experiences than the regular game.

The full rules for this are available for you to download right HERE. You get a new set of cards to use for set-up, objectives and the like as well as ways to use this skirmish format at your local clubs in a tournament setting. You can check out their video announcing the format below...
It will be fun to see how this goes down and hopefully after you've taken a moment to digest the new rules you will give your thoughts on it too. It does seem nice and slimmed down whilst still inviting you to use some of the badass options that Fantasy Flight Games has added into the mix for Star Wars: Legion.
Let us know your thoughts below...

“Quick” and dirty games FTW! 😉
Interesting that they’ve done this. When we have been short on time or space we play with 600 points on a 3×4. This is pitched at 500 on a 3×3 with the addition of some list restrictions and specially designed mission cards. I think it will work really well.
I thought the original game was a small skirmish game?
small scale battle but on a large 3′ x 6′ board. In the core set there is an introductory game similar to this new format.
“Skirmish” is a big word for this game mode, there are a few extra limitations, but there is no fundamental difference here. Nice that that have formalised though what should have been there out of the box already.
thats pretty much 500 pts operation gathering forces. People have beem playing this for some time due to the fact that is playble with just the core. That said, its really nice to see “official” support to the format, and the little tweaks, like table size and Free cards.
It’s an older code sir, but it checks out.
4 player Advanced events play to 4 rounds of Swiss and a top 2 cut…
After watching mandalorian i will be using warlord games strontium dog rules..its a bounty hunter game in the right setting… check it out all…your be happy…
I wonder if this has been done to placate the IA fanbase who loved the skirmish format
Possibly will scratch some of those itches.
One thing that these rules don’t include is the ability to run a group of named characters as a super elite squad eg Leia, Luke, Han and Chewie. But hey, that is what house rules are for.
What’s the story behind this colorful table setting with great flowers? The grey and small minis are hard to spot there 😀
