Star Wars: Legion Table Build VLOG – The Return!
May 4, 2020 by johnlyons
When Star Wars: Legion launched, John was set the challenge of turning a Toy AT-AT into a truly epic gaming table. Check out the finished table in the video above and the photos below.

Plus if your a Cult of Games Member you can watch a whole series of Project Vlogs to see how he ruined an AT-AT and made something beautiful.
I love how well the AT-AT and the platforms fit in with the forest around it. This really has a strong narrative behind it which brings the table to life.
Turning a toy into a piece of wargaming terrain was a challenge but I really feel that it has paid off in the final result.
I think it's great just how dominating the AT-AT is on the table and how small the Star Wars Legion troops are while they mingle around this fallen monster.
There is tons of scope for cinematic moments in and around the AT-AT as the rebels fight to claim it and the empire tries to recover it.
The inside of the AT-AT might be a cool place to throw your characters or just to have a good old Lightsaber rave.
It's really good to see that we can get miniatures all over the table. It was a worry early on that the AT-AT would kill a lot of playable space.
I have fallen totally in love with this table now that all the elements have come together over the last two weeks and created something I feel is pretty special.

Great work @johnlyons, as ever pure class!
@johnlyons needs a raise, the projects this man gets through are stunning to behold 😀 .
Incredible work, and that edit at the end!! Holy good friar tuck, I can’t wait to get my hands on this game now.
Epic to say the least John . I think this is my favorite build and paint projectyou’ve done in the almost 3 years I’ve been visiting BOW . And great soundtrack Lance , togther with the visual cuts I could swear it was ROTJ out takes
Holy space tech!
I haven’t been watching the making / painting videos (yet!). I was expecting something good, but this is just stunning… EPIC!
stunning work john the table is fantastic.
Totally epic and inspiring!
Awesome looking table… and all of this done in such a short timespan.
Absolutely stunning…
So this is the table where it’s at at ?
Incredible work John. Something to be proud of and will make for an epic table to play on. Great job!
Absolutely awesome. Really impressed with the finished terrain piece. You must get some pics of her resting in a sand scape. I know the rebels of Endor don’t really fit a desert world, but would be cool to see anyway. Cheers for the quality project to catch up on during downtime on night shifts. 🙂
Outstanding build, we’ll worth the effort and sacrifice of the great big dawg 🙂
I have been a little quiet on these boards recently but, this project has got me coming back online more often. In fact it has completely motivated me to get back into doing as much hobby as I can baring the locational limitations I am under.
What I want to do is to an Imperial force with the stormtroopers painted in the jungle camoflauge that can be seen in Star Wars III Revenge of the Sith when they fight alongside the wookies
@johnlyons great work
When do we get a demo game on this ?
Awesome job John
HOLY S$#T John. That is amazing.
@johnlyons Just stunning!
Absolutely amazing. I wasn’t sure about the “neutral build” at first, but I am completely convinced now. Great work.
Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m completely blown away by this table. I’ve been watching Johns videos but seeing it completely done it unbelieveable. I’m very excited to get playing this game. Nice work!!
I’m speechless, amazing job John
top work my mate, proper result.
Okay, seriously. That table is amazing. I love how the AT-AT, being so closely surrounded by trees and scaffolding, also looks like it’s decomposing like some ancient mythical beast slain in some ancient, half-forgotten war.
I could sit down and write a 10,000 fan-fic vignette on that table right now, that’s how much visual narrative it instantly evokes.
Amazing work, @johnlyons . Seriously amazing. 😀
Stunning work. Would grace any event, anywhere in the world.
