Looking like fun so far, I await your review of the new Warhammer Quest with baited breath!
It’s pretty fun. Simple mechanics with what appears to be loads of replay value.
Great pics Ben.
Glad to see that the Hobbit has been given a new push.
Warren had made a comment that the Hobbit was dead and gone several months ago. The novel and middle earth world is awesome and we all love Dwarves and the sculpts are great. I hope for all these reasons it fights for it’s place on the shelf.
The deer rider cavalry look great.
Is there much coverage of the computer games that are coming out?
I don’t know the 40K world very well. Is there a Dwarven race in 40K?
Yes they have loads of digital stuff here. Will get some pics. The Dwarfs were in 40k as the Squats many moons ago
i want to hear more about Bloodbowl
It will be Orcs vs Humans. Coloured plastic kits. Comes with rules for quick play and campaigns. Rules haven’t changed much AND a really nice big double sided pitch too in the set
Did they say when it might be available?
As soon as possible this year. It went to print last Friday so it’s a bit crazy – shouldn’t be too far off.
Are they doing any additional teams in future or sticking with Orcs vs Humans?
ha lucky guy you will have a try with warhammer Quest silver tower hummmmm
Any more Middle Earth minis or just the dwarves?
Just the new Dwarves. But there will be ALL the models from the films you like
Did that poster say “Adeptus Titanicus” ???
Are we getting Horus era titans from the specialist games team ?
We are indeed! Big stumpy robots!!!
Any news on scale and if we will also see tanks and foot troops?
Around the same as the originally…maybe a little bigger. Will be a full on wargame
That’s cool 🙂
*squee*
Now that has my attention.
Be interesting to see if they just re release Armageddon or develop a new set of rules again
Be nice to see but am dreading what the prices of the models might be
Now that’s something to get excited for. Hopefully they keep the scale of the original because I’ve bucket loads of Titans and epic scale stuff collected over the years and would hate to see them become out of scale for this release.
Here is to hoping to a return to titan-centric rules – with any other troops being secondary.
Chap on the independent character facebook says will be 8 mm, avg size 2 warlords, 2 reapers, 2-3 warhounds – expansions will add other races and non-titans. But rules very much focused on titan combat.
Oh hell yes! Just take my money dammit.
The return of Adeptus Titanicus/Epic is huge news. From the looks of it, it will start off in the Heresy era and go from there. I will keep my tentacles crossed for the return of Epic scale Tyranids at some point in the future.
Loving the Dwarves.
The ballista for the Hobbit Dwarves and the ‘eavy Metal dwarves look awesome.
Are there any bargain prices to be had at the event?
Everything is retail price. However they do have some previously ‘vanished’ stuff back on sale for LotR
What have you enjoyed most?
Seeing as you are well informed about all things in the world of wargaming, how much of what you have seen has been surprising?
The really big surprising thing has been the candid attitude of GW. They are still cagey about some things but admit their mistakes and are truly making an effort to engage and learn. Also the new Hobbit Dwarves are epic AND Warhammer Quest!
What have they been saying?
Admitted they dropped the ball on community engagement and are focusing more on creating games to play rather than just miniatures to collect.
Talked about how they are focusing more on being creative first and foremost
“Admitted they dropped the ball”
Must have rolled a 1 😉
“Must have rolled a 1 ;)”
FUMBLE!
*Turnover horn*
Nice to see a show where they are previewing and talking about what they are doing, definite tick in the returning to the true path box.
The new Hobbit stuff looks promising, also can’t wait to see some Golden Demon entry’s.
Nice to see the recent changes. Great mix of board games. Offering to develop a points based system to support AoS would only have been seen as a U-turn and sign of weakness in the past. Good to see they seem aware of community concerns and open to different play styles.
Blood Bowl looks promising.
The more you can reveal about WHQ Silver Tower the better 🙂
Will try and learn more tomorrow!
I got to meet the great @brennon 😉
Great to meet you too bud!
Cool blog Ben! I’ll really have to make the trip some time! Any more news on that Titanicus Horus Heresy game?
@brennon I agree with @neves1789 great blog and any bit of info you can pick up about Titanicus would be great. Enjoy the Sunday.
It is going to be a full wargame packed with Titans. Will be a similar scale to the original 🙂
I think a lot of people will be disappointed if its just Adeptus Titanucus again
Hewitt said they have tweaked some of the rules. It is still a way off but it should be a spanking new version
@brennon cheers for following up on Titanicus, great to hear it’ll be a similar scale and a full wargame. Seriously looking forward to this.
BOLS is saying it will be 8mm but I guess it depends how they measure the figures
Hold fire! Adeptus Tianicus? As in, the titans for epic game? Oh me trousers. Do you know if Workshop are going to produce a boxed game along the same style as the original, whereby you had customisable plastic titans, various different weapons for those titans? The obvious being to ask if they’re remaking the Imperator class.
I loved the old Imperator Class titans – a walking metal war god with an entire Gothic fortress on its shoulders still totally embodies the madness of 40k for me. Here’s hoping we see the return of the mightiest of the God Machines to the tabletop.
Great cover. are you doing an other coverage tomorrow?
Will be covering Golden Daemon today 🙂
@brennon any chance you can get some news on the release of Deathwing for a he PS4
Great blog mate and thanks for getting pictures of the new Blood Bowl teams
What a very poor community BoW has become for a thumbs down for thanking someone for taking the time in doing a blog at this event. Also for asking a question about a digital release. What has BoW coming too ? Why bother being a backstager
@chaingun I would hazard a guess that only the favoured few have the entitlement to ask questions on the forum. The fact that you pay the same in backstager subscription is irrelevant.
@brennon I second @chaingun comment. Thanks for a great blog. It gives us a great insight into what we can expect from GW going forward, only wish I could be there
Who are the favoured few? Did I miss something?
It seems that some contributors get the thumbs up no matter what they type and conversely some get a thumbs down no matter what they type. I would like to think there was nothing personal in this but really seems to be that way. Seriously, are we not all adults who give everyone a fair say without criticism ?
Please BOW, take away the whole thumbs up thumbs down rubbish. Maybe people would be more willing to contribute when it is without needless ridicule.
I tend to find that posting about GW gets me thumbs ups and thumbs downs. It just seems to be an occupational hazard of posting on a GW topic.
There was no new news on Deathwing. It was on video here but nothing more sorry chap
I thumbed you up
The bello endos are out in force apparently…
Kinky
I was there too really cool, havnt been to a GW event in years and was really surprised.
What was your favourite bit @marcusluis ?
Plinth or not to plinth?
If I created work of that quality I would put it on a plinth, upon a silk cushion, with gold braid and with it’s own driver, bodyguard and housemaid to dust it.
Some of the dioramas were so inspiring and perfectly executed.
I got the paints out this afternoon and got the brush wet for the first time in a few weeks.
Great reporting Ben. Much appreciated.
Really looking forward to finding out more about Blood Bowl. Don’t know why I’m so keen as I still own a second edition and two third edition copies.
I think that explains exactly why you’re so keen lol 🙂
The rumours I’ve heard wrt Blood Bowl, is that you’re looking at around Christmas in terms of release, and there are going to be 6 teams initially, then more depending on whether it does well enough.
So you’ve got the Human / Orc pairing, but after that, you’ve got Dwarf / Skaven, and also Elf / Nurgle.
I have GOT to get me some of those Hobbit Dwarves ..
