UK Games Expo 2022: Saturday Live Blog

Want to get your game on for an official competitive gaming session? The tournament area brings forth competitive play, with board games, card games, dice games and miniatures titles.

With judges at the ready to ensure a fair game, there are many different casual and competitive events to get stuck into with a host of different sessions to book into.

If you are around this weekend and want to get stuck into some organised play – be sure to book in at registration to check out the timetable and get committed to a session.

It did not take Free long to hunt down the booth for Goblin King Games. In fact, she sourced it out prior to the event to nail down the goodies for Moonstone.

Bringing UKGE a whole host of miniatures, a brand new and whimsical board game table and some special edition minis whilst they last.

Although UKGE is perfect for visiting publishers to see what the newest and hottest board games are getting released. You may be on the hunt for a title that doesn’t fit under a particular umbrella of the publisher.

There are tons of board game retailers here in the UK, with a wide range of different tabletop titles to see you fit for any obscure or random tabletop title you may be on the hunt for. Plus if you are looking for something particular – be sure to speak to the staff at each stand where they may be able to order you something in to be delivered to your address.

Gerry’s eyes tingled over an amazing Bolt Action display – however, this is no ordinary display. This is a very unique preview showcasing history through a stunning aesthetic with gorgeous dioramas to support the National Kidney Federation with the Band of Brothers Charity Game.

The event can be a bit overwhelming – so if you are attending be sure to check out the range of food set up in Hall 3. Whether you are after a roast, grill or just an ice cream to keep you cool amongst the crowds, there is plenty of space to sit down and indulge.

Even if you are after a cheeky pint, there’s a bar up and ready for you to get in some beverages across the weekend.

War On Terra is a brand new SciFi tabletop wargame, ready to head over to Kickstarter later on this year!

What are your first impressions of War On Terra?

Bringing your tabletop titles to an evening of gaming can always be a bit of a nightmare. Finding a bag to fit everything in, or simply contorting your way through the front door of games night – piled with board games galore atop of your arms.

Tabletop Tyrant is showcasing their range of travel wares, alongside figure cases, dice sets, foam and magnets.

Plus – after purchasing a ton of board games, players have been heading to Tabletop Tyrant to ensure that they can travel their new purchases home safely!

Justin headed over to the stand for Modiphius Entertainment – where they are showcasing a wide range of their titles over at the show. Bringing Dune, Elder Scrolls, Fallout and so much more.

There’s a lot to take in over at the booth, with some miniature showcases and a look into their RPG systems. If you are around this weekend, be sure to check out the Modiphius Stand with mounts of tabletop goodness on their huge booth.

Did I mention that they have a huge Pit Boy on their stand?!

The Open Play Area is a fantastic place to get your head down to try out some of the games you have purchased across the event. With special tables decked out across the hall, plus UKGE playmats scattered on each table – this area marks the best place to get stuck into some new titles freshly purchased at UKGE.

If you haven’t made a purchase just yet at the event – the Board Game Library is a fantastic idea for players to trial and test before making a commitment to a board game title. Rules and conditions do apply – being that you have be 16 years of age to commit to a rental – but there is a wide selection to be picked up and played during the course of the event.

Make sure to pop by the Wayland Games stand here at the UK Games Expo. As well as fun games to demo, the team are also going to be giving away FREE GAMES all weekend!

They have games to give away each day and when stock is gone, it’s gone. SO, don’t forget!

Although attendees usually come to UKGE for the board game bonanza, they can also pick up their fair share of unrelated tabletop collectables too! If you are missing a Funko Pop from your collection, there are many stalls showcasing a massive range. Whether you want the giant POPs or just the little ones – you will be sure to plug the gaps in your Funko library here!

The Bring and Buy zone was heaving with board game goodies that certainly made Free and Ben a little weak at the knees! There were titles that we hadn’t seen in years, as people bring their old games to get hold of some new ones in a trading environment.

The stand is pastel pink, the products are damn right adorable. Can you figure out which member of the OTT team spent some time over at the Kawaii Crafts? It wasn’t exactly Shay was it…

Free headed over to Kawaii Krafts, as Pokemon reside inside terrariums, and the cute and whimsical live inside the body of an old PlayStation One!

Dive in and check out a HUGE game of RISK being played just behind the OnTableTop Stage in Hall 2.

Nick Hindley had the idea to take some big maps of Britain and bring some big toys to play out a HUGE game of RISK. This one is great fun and is quite the sight to behold!

The PlayTestUK Stand is back, and players are heading to the tables to bring feedback to tables upon tables of upcoming board game titles. Provided by game designers, players get a chance to put their thumbprint on a future game – bringing welcomed feedback to the future of development.

Who knows! You may be playtesting the next biggest hit title!

Run alongside the National Kidney Foundation, this is an impressive diorama and gaming table that has been set up by a great community of folks!

Things are getting tense over at The Mystery Agency, as we dive into a new escape room experience which places players amongst puzzles that focus on the dramatic.

The components really blew us away, providing “real” looking resources to decrypt and decode, placing players dead centre and in the midst of the investigative action!
