Team Yankee Unboxing: FV432/Swingfire Troop

We're taking a look at more from Team Yankee in an Unboxing of the FV432/Swingfire Troop box for the British by Battlefront Miniatures.

The FV432 was an armoured personal carrier or APC, the equivalent of the American M113. The addition of the Swingfire Guided Missiles to the top made it even more of a brutal vehicle to have on your side.

Affectionally dubbed a 'battle taxi' it could fulfill all manner of roles protecting the troops inside from small arms fire and then deploying them at effective areas of the battlefield.

Which way will you build yours?

Got out of Flames quite a while back, but this looks interesting and may be worth a try at a local store or wargames show

I was only just looking Team Yankee and Iron Maiden today, I’ve not really had an interest before but I must have subliminally scanned it while browsing BoW and it’s just starting niggling me. I’m have trouble choosing a nation though, this launch could swing it in Britain’s favour! 🙂

This will get me motivated to finally crack open those two Leopard 2 platoons I have to build . . . 😀

You’re missing out @Oriskany. Those big cats are a great kit to build.

Hey, what’s up @benc ! 😀 Always great to hear from another Lloydoslavia veteran. Yeah, I pre-ordered these guys back in late July, finally got them in early September. I keep meaning to get into them, but clearing up the last bits of the BattleTech project. The Leopard 2s are definitely my next big build / paint project.

I’ve been really looking forward to this. I have the novel in hand and am just about to start reading, plus I’ve picked up a couple of extra books covering british forces and armoured divisions so I’m all set to go full Iron Maiden. I’m just wondering if I’m good enough at painting to tackle the Berlin Brigade urban paint scheme.

I think I will have to get some of those Chieftains! I seem to recall that was the first airfix model tank I got as a present.

Whenever I hear ‘Iron Maiden’ I can’t help by wonder when Eddie is going to show up …
only to be reminded that it’s Team Yankee and not the latest cd from a certain British heavy metal band.

Soviet tanks just got primer so soon there will be some new minis and the brits look good and will supplement my m1s. I do wonder when they get the 80s equipment done if they will move on in timeline to more modern equipment? The Team Yankee fictional world works on moving the timeline of gaming forward as true personal scars won’t be as wide spread. Hopefully this will get us to even more modern equipment. Lastly can’t wait to see if the Chinese / N Korea stuff will be on the future list of releases. So many options to… Read more »

I’ll be off to my FLGS first thing Saturday morning to pick up the IM book and the Brit starter set. I’ve got my 100 points of Soviets where I want them and the Brits will be my other main force. I bought the W German box (because Leopards!) but didn’t go any further than that.

Very tempted by this, I do hope Battlefront release a Partizan force, then I can get some Twilight 2000 gaming in.

British haven’t made it to Pennsylvania yet, but I’m hoping to put a big dent in finishing up my West Germans this weekend.

So what was the inspiration for the book title? The metal band, Margaret Thatcher, or the torture device?

Thatcher was the Iron Lady … I doubt she was a maiden at that time 😉

The torture device may have never been used as such :

I been holding off on getting in til I see if the Israel Defense Forces get in the game but these Brits are quite tempting. Have to hold off at lest until an unboxing.

I’ve never really been into historical style games but there is something about team yankee that hits the right nerve, perhaps its the A10 warthogs – they are always a welcome addition

Yep, the Brits are the ones I’ve been waiting for too. I am sooo chuffed that we have Chieftains, I’m going to be trying the Berlin urban camo!
