Battlefront are having a weekend-long event to celebrate the launch of Team Yankee.

They have turned the Team Yankee website into a live blog, featuring photos, model assembly videos, gaming, rules discussions with Phil Yates, and an interview with novel author HW Coyle.

Over the past few days staff around the world have been preparing for the launch this weekend by building models for demo games. Right now in New Zealand the Studio team are getting stuck in and building their first models in preparation for some 50 point gaming.

Wayne from the Battlefront Studio takes a look at how easy it is to assemble the new plastic BMP kit.

Phil takes a break from writing the Team Yankee rules to show off the new plastic Soviet T-72 tank and how easy it is to put together.

It's Sunday in New Zealand and the weather is really starting to close in, but thankfully our Abrams have thermal sights so we can keep recording and assembling. Today we will be starting to paint some of our new models and hopefully playing some games. Stay tuned for more.

Yesterday James showed us how easy it is to assemble the M1 Abrams (must be easy, as he hadn't built one before filming this video).

A lot of requests have come in from veteran Flames Of War players for a list of differences between the rule set they are familiar with, and the new Team Yankee rules. Between assembling T-72s and recording how-to-play videos, Phil has written this introductory guide.

Phil Yates introduces the rules for Team Yankee, starting with the Unit Cards, followed by the basic rules for Movement, and also the tactical options presented by special Movment Orders.

Aaron takes a look at this iconic helicopter and how to build it. In this first part he covers building the fusilage and attaching the included magnets for the flight stand and rotor blades. A second part, where Aaron shows how to build the rotors and weapons, will follow soon.

Phil Continues discussing the Team Yankee rules, this time with shooting and morale.

Earlier today, before the guys had lunch and moved on to playing some games, James checked in with everyone to see how much progress they had made on their Team Yankee armies.

Phil spoke to Harold Coyle, author of the Team Yankee novel, via Skype. You can see a fairly brief excerpt from the interview here, and we will bring you the full conversation next week – either as videos or a podcast, or perhaps both.

Unfortunately the video quality isn't perfect, but it's a very interesting conversation, and we're absolutely thrilled to be able to share it with you (not least because the first time we tried to record it, the resulting video file had no sound! Nightmare!)

In part one Aaron showed how to assemble the Cobra"s fuselage. In this video he demonstrates how to correctly assemble the rotors and weapon systems.

In part two of his conversation with game designer Phil Yates, Team Yankee novelist Harold Coyle discusses his early wargaming influences, as well as how World War III in the 1980s would likely have unfolded, with the benefit of what is now known of Soviet doctrine at the time.
