Blogging At This Event:
Welcome To Day Two – The Army Painter RuneWars Weekend Continues
Join us for a morning of awesomeness...and a day of stressful painting...as we look ahead to more tips and tactics from the guys at Army Painter as they show off new techniques for you to use.
Of course we might have a few more surprises up our sleeves too!
People Painting Away!
We take a closer look at more of the work being done by the Hobby Weekenders as they explore different schemes which range from the classic to the totally retro looking.
What kind of scheme would you approach doing for your RuneWars armies?
John's Painting Tutorial - Skeleton
We catch up with John again and find out how he went about painting up the Skeleton from the RuneWars set for the forces of Waiqar.
How do you find the look of the scheme?
Some Sneaky Looks Ahead
We got to check out some of the awesome figures which have been brought along by The Army Painter guys showing off what is coming soon for the world of RuneWars.
These are some of the expansion characters who will be available in the months after the main release of the game.
Shading With An Airbrush
Shading with an airbrush is a skill you might want to look at mastering for something different on your models.
We go through some of the skills you can bring to the tabletop allowing you to achieve some interesting ideas and lay the groundwork for future techniques.
Painting Away!
We follow more of the Hobby Weekender folk and get stuck into some more painting as they show off their forces.
There will some catch up videos soon where we talk with the Hobby Weekenders about what they've been up to and learn about their techniques.
Progress Update From Lloyd!
We catch up with Lloyd who has been painting away on the Waiqar forces for RuneWars.
He is going with plenty of bone, some metallics, a nice touch of blue and then a winter theme to tie it all together.
What do you think of the idea of a White Walker look?
More Inspirational Painting!
We take a closer look at some more of the work that The Army Painter guys have done on their models as they show off the different styles you can achieve.
There's no reason that your force has to just be the colours from the boxed game. You can go wild.
Progress Update From Sam
We stop in with Sam next and find out how he's been doing painting up the Daqan forces from RuneWars. He has chosen to do an epic paint scheme which reminds me of some of the painting you can do to characters in For Honor.
With that in mind, make sure to check out his Youtube Channel as Sam does our Total War: Warhammer videos!

Lance's Wonderful Horse!
While some of us have been painting up wonderous armies Lance has been working away on...a horse.
A single, magnificent beast with flowing fetlocks and wonderous dabbled skin. Oh and the rider is pretty cool too.
Food Time & Fuel
It's time to fuel up slightly now as we get stuck into some more gamer fuel.
This time we have hot dog and chips with some very nice onion. Sounds like the right kind of thing to keep us going into the rest of the afternoon.
Progress Update With Martin
Martin is another of the folks here who has gone with the Daqan force on the tabletop. He has gone with the more standard scheme that you'll see in the artwork and throughout the rulebook.
How do you think his work is looking right now?
Back To The Grindstone
We power through some more projects with some of our Hobby Weekender attendees and get stuck into more painting. Everyone is hard at work.
This has been, despite the flurry of work to get armies finished, a great chance to chat and get stuck into painting and hobby chat (and other chatter) with folks.
Progress Update With Laura
We stop in to find out how Laura has been doing as she has now finished one army and is moving onto her second one.
Will she get them finished by the end of the day? We shall find out...but it looks like things are going well!
Powering Through The Paint...
It's a mess of boxes, paints, brushes and more across the entire of the room here but everywhere something is getting painted and coming to life on the tabletop.
The Army Painter method has created some great looking armies so far.
Gaz Talks Alternative Shading Methods
We stop off with Gaz and learn about alternative methods for shading using some of the product that Army Painter produce, and tweaking it to your own means.
Is this something you're going to be trying out yourself?
Remember! You Could Win!
By commenting on the posts on this Live Blog you could win yourself some awesome Paint Sets from Army Painter allowing you to try out a number of different techniques we've seen here.
What project would you begin working on if you got your hands on these paints.
Acrylic Washing With Mel The Terrain Tutor
Follow along with Mel, TheTerrainTutor as he shows off some Acrylic Wash techniques that you can use.
He's been doing a great job on his Rune Golem from the RuneWars set and it is looking fantastic.
Learning To Play The Game
We have Az here who is teaching some of the gamers, and challenging the Army Painter guys, to play some RuneWars to test their skills and learn the ropes.
It's looking like a really fun game and we're going to have a video explaining the basic mechanics of it soon.
Using Army Painter Quickshade Dip & Flick
Learn the patented dip and flick technique for your soldiers as the Army Painter team show off what you can achieve and just how to get it right.
We will be looking at alternative methods across the weekend too.
Catching Up With Az & Army Painter's Game
We stop in with Az and the Army Painter guys to see how their game has been going. It's pretty neat seeing how all the gameplay mechanics come together.
Full demo game coming later this afternoon!
Catching Up With Rob
We find out how community stalwart, Rob, has been getting on with his models that he has been painting up this weekend.
It has been interesting seeing how he works on entirely different techniques.
Dawn & Gianna Hold Their Own RuneWars Hobby Weekend!
Dawn & Gianna are holding their own Hobby Weekend over in the States where they are playing RuneWars and getting stuck into the game.
They are having a lot of fun and if you'd like to know more about their experiences with the game you can ask them in the comments below!
Progress Update With Tim
We find out what Tim has been tinkering with and indeed how he has been adapting some of his models.
Let's just say that he might have already done some cutting and changed his warlord into a bit of a dancer...
Progress Update With Doug
We're now catching up with Doug to see how his day has been going as he tinkers away on more of his project.
The light blue is a great choice and really serves to create a fascinating looking set of soldiers which will pop on the tabletop.
What do you think?
Time For Another Army Painter Spot Prize
We have another set of goodies to give away before we have some food...
...let's see who the lucky lad or lass is!
Dinner Time!
We're on the curry tonight to get us through some more painting.
It's decidedly hearty and fills the belly as you get ready for more hard work. Lloyd seems to really like it too!
Progress Update With Nuala
We stop in with Nuala and find out what she's been painting away on. It seems the theme of this table is horses, but there appears to be another big beast coming to life too.
When you're painting armies do you go for the big beasties first or do you work on the basic line troopers?
Lance's Sad Horse
Ok, so Lance put a lot of thought into his first horse...but his second horse maybe didn't get as much love and attention.
Sadly the rider gets an old wooden shield, his sword is rusty, and the horse might be a bit lame too. Poor Horse.
Mixing Wash Medium With Tone
In the spirit of experimentation we take to the tabletop once again and show off what Stu has been doing as he explores just what happens when you do some interesting things with washes.
Take a look at see what you think of them right now and see if you would try this on your Undead.
Matte Coating Your Miniatures
We look at the process, a tricky one at that, where you are able to Matte Coat your miniatures using the spray from Army Painter.
Make sure the conditions are right for this as it could make a big difference in the outcome of your miniatures.
Saturday Round Up - Time for Pub!
We've had another great day of painting and tomorrow we try and get in some games which will be great fun.
Watch out in the morning for our Demo Game and more...and of course we're going to be looking to get some extra painting done AND talk more about the techniques on offer. We also have additional painting tutorials from John too.
For now...wish us luck at the pub!
Good morning, is it a slow start there today, must be all that quick shade consumed last night.
Looking foreward to see the painted armies! 🙂
Looking pretty good
Looking forward to another day.
Cant wait to get my hands on the figures.
Both factions models look amazing, what great sculpts. Really clean lines lots of detail, just beautiful. With the skeleton faction are the humans necromancers or ghouls or what? In any case they look great.

Lunch looked delicious love the sautéed onions on my dogs yum!
Looking like it is going to be another great day there. I am amazed at how much they are getting painted. I think I literally painted 3 boots 4 legs and 2 arms on my current project last night. (Not all on the same mini of course)
