Invasion 2015 – Open Weekend Live Blog!
This Saturday I'm going to be at the Invasion 2015 event from Hawk Wargames for Dropzone Commander down in Croydon! As well as the tournament there's going to be the open day too showing off a whole bunch of new miniatures (we hope!) and more...
We've been seeing new faction models popping up online through their newsletter for a few weeks now and the amount of scenario based terrain they've added to the game has grown. It should be great to see!
As well as loads of images we're going to try and get some cool video and interviews recorded with some of the Hawk Wargames team for you as the day unfolds.
Keep an eye out on the website throughout the day and we'll bring you a whole bunch of awesome content from this great event!

Good luck to all of the competitors and it's a healthy and vibrant community there that will no doubt build over the next few months.
Bring on the DZC Boot Camp so we and our visitors can get stuck in!
The blog system looks good looking forward to seeing the rest of what you find in Croydon
have fun everybody that go’s.
The new live blog system is a great idea……very slick!!
Really looking forward to this weekend’s reports and updates.
The Lifthawk reminds me I still have 4 to finish painting ;p
4am on the train. Good luck
now hang on a mo, the website says three update but I can only see two? am I missing out or is the website wrong?
Lucky swine…
I was up at 4am for a sodding Linux server update 🙁
Why are there no women in these images? Gaming should be for everyone so seek out any women present and interview them! Keep up the good work.
Yes why r there no women
They only come out when the studs of the industry turn up, and sadly I couldn’t make it this time 😉
“Stud’s”? , as in pesstuds mayhaps?
I am loving this coverage
Herbal remedy drinking stud…. aye right 🙂
I have to say the minis are looking fabulous – some of the alternate paint schemes appeal a lot.
And that is the most realistic looking giant Coke bottle I have seen in years (12:30)
Good work Ben, thanks for all your effort ,
Thank you!
This works really well! You guys are really paving the way to something great.
Ben, thanks for a great report! @warzan and @lloyd, the new blogging interface is awesome.
Awesome coverage and the system works extremely well, I’m genuinely impressed.
Lovely painting – I like the Tron themed PHR.
You have been incredibly busy – well done and thanks for securing so many intriguing images – the show boards are particularly nice and it is great to see real minis of the 3D renders we saw over Advent.
And good for you getting that interview as well though a mike for the interviewees would have helped over the background noise.
I love the Rebel airsupport – it looks like a sci-fi A10.
Rough and ready videos – hopefully we’ll have something sorted on the audio interview front when we have a better handle on the uploads. Should get rid of the background nose.
BoW Ben
Ben are many players using the ‘resistance’ ? this is the army that has really got me thinking about DZC
your doing a great job there Ben keep it going mate.
cheers
Alan
Quite a few people are using Resistance – have seen a good dozen or so armies on the table. Some interesting tactics being used and they seem to be standing up well to the other factions.
BoW Ben
cheers Ben, if it’s not too! much trouble…. would you be able to go over a few of the tactics for Resistance that you’ve seen? when you’ve had time to get some rest! lol
cheers
Alan
Danm the phoenix make me feel like I should have gone UCM
The blog system is great guys. While it can’t replace the actually feeling of being at a place like this, it is the next best thing. The mini interviews with Dave are great because it feels like I am there talking to him and trying to get him to spill the beans on something. Keep up the good work…oh and try to get Dave to tell use more about Dropfleet Commander.
I love the new vehicles this game is looking better and better.
Im going to poo poo the party a bit here. I do think its really good to have all this coverage but on the video front why not take along the video camera which can do very good close ups of the figures and miniatures. 1. Have a table set up by the miniatures cabinet with a very good camera for close ups or do a mini interview with Dave and Ben sitting across a table from one another with a close cam. 2. Why cant you guys video all the miniatures before the doors are open and do videos… Read more »
correction. Sorry I am a backstager
Go watch the blogs where we describe the build of all this to get a feel for what we’re trying to do. Really good cameras cost really good money and need really good machines to change the footage into a compressed codec that would be even slightly capiable of being uploaded, all of which would take a lot (an awful lot) of time. (Unless we spent really really really good amounts of money. Then we have to train people to use it all, and then we have to do it for every volunteer blogger around the world who we hope… Read more »

Hi
Thank you Warren for getting back to me. I see what you trying to do now, wish I could delete what I have put. You are write it does make sense, you want a portable way in which you cover many events in the countries they are in and not making it to busy for the person covering them. Sorry mate wish I could delete what I wrote. 🙂
No problem mate
We would love nothing more than to have super high quality footage etc, but I reckon we need to look at iPhone 6’s or high end androids as a possibility 🙂
And we will 🙂

Great work all you guys at BOW……..The live blogs have been a great success so far. It’s captured the flavour and detail of the event. Really enjoying the experience.
A great job all around guys! The live blog interface is fantastic in my book and Ben’s coverage was great. You’ve made me even more stoked than ever for the boot camp weekend and I enjoyed checking in with what was going on throughout proceedings. Yes, in an ideal world you would have the full panoply of video tech available for all event coverage, but any limitations must always be balanced by the sheer flexibility and immediacy of the content this approach produces. You guys can’t be at every main event, but somebody representing BoW can, providing instant live content… Read more »
This is going to be sweet when Gencon rolls around.
This is new coverage is great. Is there any way in the future to be able to comment on individual posts? It might end up looking a bit messy but I am sure the BoW IT gods can find a way
If you click on the little speech bubble under the profile on each post you can comment there 🙂
Thanks Ben, excellent coverage looking forward to the next one.
Great Blog, have enjoyed following this but certainly could do with a HD camera to view full screen.
