Flames Of War In The Pacific: Battlefront Launch Blog

Supported by (Turn Off)

Battlefront are going to be joining us from Friday 8th of April to Wednesday 13th for an introduction to Flames Of War In The Pacific. Two new books are on the way for the US (Gung Ho) and the Japanese (Banzai) allowing you to fight out their island hopping engagements.

Americans

So what's on the cards from Battlefront for you to enjoy on the run up to the launch of these new books and miniatures?

Japanese

They're going to be delving into the painting of your forces, the history of the conflict, showing off some of their own armies from the team and much more.

Competition

Those who comment can also find themselves in with the chance of winning ONE of SEVEN different sets of Gung Ho & Banzai Books signed by the Studio Team! To clarify then; there will be seven different winners each getting a pair of books from the Battlefront studio. Pretty awesome right?!

Stay tuned to get involved and have your say about the Pacific. Tell us how you're going to be attempting new tabletops, new armies and join in!

What are you looking forward to most?

Great Coverage so far, I look forward to future “earlier Pacific War” coverage (currently working on the 1941 /1942 KNIL list of Netherlands Forces in the Pacific)

Me too, I would really like a coverage of the early pacific war in FoW, maybe we should just wait, afterall it’s a completaly new period and they have tons of possibility…. Australian and New Zeland forces, expanding the period to encompass the war in mainland China, etc…

Actually you can use Pacific books in EW set up if you use PW points but you have to take account what was actually there.

Pretty excited to play a marine rifle company. There’s not many guys near base who are into flames of war, but I feel like the pacific is going the change that.

Been using Command Decision minis and Michael Millers 2005/2006 list to do Tarawa and other battles for awhile. Looking forward to seeing how FoW handles this period.

Love The Pacific.

I sense a ‘HBO The Pacfic’ themed force crying out to be started. The conversions alone would be awesome for the Amtracks; and the minis that BattleFront have already announced are very tempting.

I’ve always wanted to play Japanese but none of my friends wanted to play Early War. Now that I’ll be able to play them Late War I’m hyped!

Batllefront has noted in their description of the new Pacific series, that playing against others than forces in these books would work best in a Mid War setting. Something about the tech not being advanced enough for a full-on Late War.

I had lost hope we would ever see Early War Pacific after they starting producing their Vietnam line, and it just seemed to become more hopeless after the Arab Israeli line come out. What a joy it is to see my dream of fielding some motivated Jarheads coming to reality. Semper Fi Battlefront Miniatures, take my money please.

Funnily enough, my first few games were against a friend who ran ad-hoc Japanese. Now we can play for real! (Or we could if he hadn’t sold his Japanese…)

I’ve always wanted to make a scenic late war pacific island table, and actually have rules to play on it (for FOW at any rate). Very much looking forward to getting my hands on these books!

I’m looking forward to expand my early war japanese infantry force with all the new additions and to test the new ratings (I want to try the new CT rating) and lists (the fortified infantry list).
Maybe I will also start a Marine Rifle Company list, afterall as they are rated as FV they will be a pretty small but elite force and will be a nice addition to my FoW collection

It has been a long time coming, and I’m happy the wait is over!

Looking forward to seeing how different the game will be with the forces making war in the Southern Hemisphere.

Also looking forward (hopefully) to books covering the rest of the war against Japan – the Brits and the ANZAC’s.

I may be in the minority but looking forward to building a Japanese company and defending an Island. With the dual points to allow play in Pacific and Late War interested to see how the Japanese will fend against European theatre lists.

I suppose they will be struggling with armoured lists in Europe. But maybe there are some benefits the Japanese get what’s not unveiled right now.

Im looking forward to start a japanese army now that the Pacific theatre kicks in. Love that you can use it with Late war point cost too. Banzai!

Can the pacific points be used as early war?

I remember something about that the PW points are similar to EW points, the only problem are the weapons and vehicle that were not used in the Early period (1939-1941)
