Bolt Action Boot Camp: Sunday
It's Sunday! Normally we'd be wishing you a Happy Sunday from the Weekender set but this time weekend we're still playing host to the Bolt Action Boot Camp which is going great. Everyone's really enjoying using their armies and we've got something awesome planned later on today...
You Could Win!
By commenting here on the main Live Blog and on the individual posts you could be in with a chance of winning 1 of 3 D-Day Firefight Starter Sets for Bolt Action...
You might have seen us hinting at it elsewhere but watch out for something alien. We've heard rumours of cows getting abducted...

Bolt Action Boot Camp Sunday Kicks Off!
The Competitive Games Begin
A whole round of competitive games have now begun with prizes on the line for big tank kills, objectives stolen and all those other fantastic movie moments you might run into while playing Bolt Action...
D-Day Campaign: Battle For Pegasus Bridge Round Four
The fighting hots up this morning and the British try and make their way across the bridge under increasing amounts of German fire including a sniper who takes roost in the bridge control room.
German troops on the top of the bridge fire down onto those trying to take cover behind the metal barriers on the side of the bridge and take a few out but not before return fire forces them into cover and kills most of the squad.
The British Commanding Officer, Crazy Jack, runs across the bridge to try and rally his squads into action as the Spotter for the Allies is also bought down when looking for the perfect target.
In the end the German Medic decides the squad atop the bridge is a lost cause and makes his way back down the stairs...or maybe that should be "flees back down the stairs".
How To Get Your Mates Into Bolt Action
Check out this previously Backstage video where Justin and Chez take you through an easy way to get your mates into Bolt Action using a few squads and some dice...
D-Day Campaign: Battle For Pegasus Bridge Round Five
The brave British Paratrooper Winston runs forward and survives a deadly flamethrower shot from one of the German teams as they close in on the control tower. His mate Charles gets roasted alive and unfortunately falls into the river...
Meanwhile the British also try and move up the centre of the bridge and get peppered by the German MMG. The Germans sense a bit of an opportunity and shoot close range with their Panzerschreck but weirdly it just harmlessly bounces off the metalwork.
The British Paratroopers begin to get some reinforcements and the soldiers are closing in. There are going to be some heroic moments next turn...
Alessio's Thoughts On The Weekend & Prizes
More Gaming Before Lunch!
Lloyd has popped up to say hello and more gaming kicks off...
Lunch Time!
We stop for some hard earned lunch as the big battles still rage...
World War II Kit: Ranger Uniform
It's time to take a look at the American Ranger Uniform you might be familiar with from films like Saving Private Ryan...
D-Day Campaign: Battle For Pegasus Bridge Round Six
The British get very close to the control room of the bridge and are very close to securing it before more Germans get involved.
Poor old Winston dies fighting off the flamethrower crew; surely something that would net him a Victoria Cross. More heroics are just around the corner though As the British Commander, Jack Hardasnails III runs ahead to finish off what Winston started.
Bullets are pinging everywhere and Jack has dodged most of the MG shots coming his way - even managing to take down a plucky German Medic who tried to stop him.
Will the British be able to make it there in time before German reinforcements arrive? Will the British spotter be able to add some howitzer support to the bridge capture?
D-Day Campaign: Battle For Pegasus Bridge Final Round
As Jack closes in the German SS Officer decides enough is enough. Activating first (oops...my bad, sorry Rob for pulling the dice!) he charges towards Jack and delivers the killing blow scuppering the British plans to take Pegasus Bridge.
In the end this scenario ends with the Germans winning the day and stopping the British advance late at night. Maybe the invasion wouldn't have gone so well because of this set back?
Remember to help out and join in with the D-Day World Wide Campaign!
D-Day World Wide Campaign: End of Game
I talk with Rob, Marc and John about the Pegasus Bridge battle we just fought out and explain the way it REALLY happened.
Prizes For Success & Failure!
During the morning we ran a competition which included first tank kill, most kills over all, the most epic fail and more. We had some great moments and people walked away with some cool prizes...
Ride Into Battle With The Russians!
It's not all armoured cavalry in Bolt Action; there is even an opportunity for some actual horses with the Soviets. Check these out...
A Superb Panther & Some World Of Tanks Style Action...
Not only have we got this rather superb looking Panther painted up very nicely indeed but a moment that would be worthy of World of Tanks.
The Tiger zoomed past the train only to be spotted by the Hellcat from between the carriages. A shot was fired that simply bounced off the Tiger's rear. The Tiger, sensing a problem, went into full reverse and aimed through the same gap!
The Tiger took his shot and even with a Recce Move from the Hellcat it wasn't enough. It bit the dust with a round right through the front of the hull.
Our Own Pegasus Bridge
You've heard all about it from John earlier but it really is one of the heroic moments from World War II. See how we mocked up our Pegasus Bridge assault in all its glory before our wargamers got stuck into it.
We had a lot of fun putting together this board and John is very proud of it! We might have taken a few liberties with the combatants...and the bridge charge, but other than that enjoy!
Well, let’s start cracking!
Happy Sunday! (are we allowed to say it without a weekender?)
Nein!
Well tough, I ain’t followin’ your rules!
Happy Sunday, Happy Sunday, Happy Sunday, Happy Sunday, Happy Sunday, Happy Sunday, Happy Sunday, Happy Sunday, Happy Sunday,!
Bit weird to ask for it nine times but happy to oblige @solar.
I dun see what you dun did thar
Enjoy day 2 boot camp attendees!
At first, I was a bit disappointed that there wasn’t a casual march past…
Then, I started giggling away…
Looking forward to the days proceedings.
lol who was that running around in the background??
War on a Sunday!
Its been another great weekend of coverage for those of us unable to attend, I’ve not had much time to myself but was able to grab a peek at the videos through the day yesterday, really enjoyed them all. Great stuff from everyone and a big thanks from me.
I think we nearly broke t’internet yesterday…
Great, lets get it on.
A SWAT team in the bushes..I think they’ve triggered an alarm and are now on the government’s list of suspects..!
Organising training camps is a dangerous business these days 😉
Happy Sunday 😀
Lol at the guys in the background
I believe this is Happy Stugday…
Great idea
Happy Sunday!!
As they say points mean prizes!
When I saw those two in the background I just couldn’t stop laughing.
Happy Sunday
Seems to have gone really well. Great idea bringing reenactors along to show off their uniforms and Dixie was really interesting – Thanks John’s Dad! I have to say for even a non-minis player (ok X-Wing) that this one tempts me. Castlerock is a long way for me but Bolt Action 28 mm looks pretty cool.
Happy Sunday and day 3 of the bootcamp :D. Hope to see some gameplay video today.
Looks like a lot of fun, can’t wait for today’s coverage of a game I really want to dive wallet first into.
Some nice pairs firing manoeuvres in the background there prior to a casualty extraction 🙂
Nice to see all the uniforms and Tank fest yesterday looked a lot of fun by the video’s so interested to see what games you have up your sleeves for today.
Got to love the background action. C’mon gaming Sunday.
