UK Games Expo 2020 Cancelled | What’s Happening Next?
April 27, 2020 by crew
A pretty sombre one today but we had a chat with Richard and Tony from UK Games Expo as they dropped the unfortunate news that the show for 2020 is going to be cancelled and return next year in 2021. You can watch the video above to get the lowdown on the situation and how things have developed over the last few weeks.

A lot of the details of what is going to happen now are included in our interview but to hit some of the core talking points for attendees and vendors...
ALL VISITORS AND EXHIBITORS ARE ENTITLED TO RECEIVE A FULL REFUND OF TICKETS AND STAND FEES
YOU HAVE THE OPTION TO ROLL FORWARD YOUR ENTRY TICKET AND STAND FEES TO 2021
There are a lot of questions no doubt from both attendees and vendors but a lot of answers have already been provided by UK Games Expo as part of a PDF HERE. I'm sure there will be many more intricate details which need to be worked out but make sure to provide time for communications as this is going to be a busy time.

Sad. These are always a great showcase for merchants to show off stuff to a ready audience. This just goes to show how deep the impact of COVID 19 is, nothing will be the same again…which is a shame since i fear many innovative ideas and designs will never see the light. The loss of creativity is something that can’t be measured.
Sad, but expected.
I do like how they’re going to do a refund without requiring a ton of paperwork.
Very customer friendly and a logical step given that they’re running it with minimal staff.
It is crazy how things are being affected by this virus, I do hope that if things ever got dire here or if companies like UKGE ever got to the point where it could close they would not be shy in coming forward to the community. I think the collective power we have in our knowledge, skills and yes our wallets and purses can do some good for the future of this hobby.
Yes, of course, there are bigger things but does not mean there is not enough to go round.
I expected this.
To everyone involved in the UKGE I wish you all well and look forward to seeing you in 2021. As for the T Shirt idea, I would definitely buy one.
I don’t think thing’s will be going back to normal quickly with new outbreaks happening in China at the moment everything is getting really confusing.
Good to see they are doing what they can to keep people in the know.
Fingers crossed for them and hopefully it’ll be back next year. My only worry is that once this crisis is over that large events like this may become a thing of the past at least for the short term.
Such a shame, I will look forward to supporting UKGE and the OTT team in 2021. I have already pencilled it into my work diary.
Such a sad piece of news, completely understandable though. I just hope it doesn’t have to much of an impact on the traders and all will be back on track once all this blows over
