Salute 2014: Vendors & Miniatures! [Updated!]
April 12, 2014 by brennon
We're starting out massive picture bombardment from Salute 2014 and it all starts with just a tiny section of the hall. Let's have a look at what's going on to begin with...
UPDATED!
In this second batch of miniatures and vendors I think those awesome Discworld Miniatures are somewhat stealing the show although it's hard to say no to that big ass Dragon from Mierce Miniatures. It was awesome talking with the Lords of War team as well and I got to play a game of Templars Vs Undead (review coming soon for that!).
I wonder what kind of stuff you guys picked up?
As you can see there is a lot on offer just from this short snippet. There are some brilliant looking Freebooter miniatures on offer including an epic Master Harlequina which has never been seen before!
More to come soon so keep an eye out!
Angry Yoda is looking excellent. If that isnt new I don’t know how I missed it, that is exactly the sought of thing I buy just because.
Yogo Yogo is indeed pretty new!
Loved the Ax Faction models. Beautiful!!
Best wishes to all the UK gamers enjoying Salute! I am on the wrong side of the Atlantic myself and I have been unable to participate. 🙂
I picked up a copy of Jugula, which is the gladiator game fifth picture down. I was hugely impressed by the British Indie stand. Some really interesting things going on there. They were my nomination for the best thing about the show in the BoW competition.
I got a copy of Jugula too, so did my brother. Can’t wait to play it, it looks really good, fast and brutal. Looks ideal for tournament play. Another hit for the guys at Gripping Beast and Studio Tomahawk!
Also bought loads of stuff for Infinity, starting a Tohaa force. And got to speak to the guys at Taban Miniatures about their new boardgame, Escape, set in the Eden universe. I supported them on Kickstarter, and it sounds like it’s going to be on the way very soon!
nothing from Prodos who were there and had some stunning models on display both for Warzone and AvP
Lots of companies doing some awesome sculpts which was nice to see. Unfortunately it was all let down by the awful lighting in the hall. It was terribly dim in there. Mierce stuff looked nice but I’d trust them as far as I can throw them after the Maelstrom rip off. Anvil stuff looked awesome for alt guardsmen but my star of the show was Black Scorpion. Beautiful wild west sculpts and the undead pirates were awesome.
I thought that too. In fact the general standard of lighting for the miniatures in cases was pretty poor too. I was really looking forward to seeing the Studio McVey stuff for instance, but I felt like the harsh shadows created by the spot lamps in the cabinets didn’t really allow me to appreciate them properly.
Agree with Ishibei. PRODOS had some fantastic new stuff for Warzone. You guys covered the kickstarter but haven’t covered them since. It’s my favourite minis game atm and I’d love to see more from you guys on it. Bit of a missed opportunity I feel. Tut tut BoW!
Are the new Warzone rules the same as the original?
No, it’s a very diverse new version with lots of individual squad and warlord rules. They are, however, extremely well balanced in my experience. I enjoy the dispersion of the minis and squad level activation compared to 40k. There is a growing community on Facebook too.
Thanks
I really enjoyed the original rules so hopefully they are some similarities
On another note I was digging through some stuff and found my old Kryomek rulebook…enjoyed that as well
