Hell Dorado finally Returns
August 8, 2010 by warzan
Some games in our lives always seem to be on the cusp, At-43 gave us concerns in the past, Starwars Minatures never seems to quite get there and of course Duke Nukem Forever is now gone...well...forever. Helldorado is returning under the careful watch of Cypher Studios, the guys seem to be treating the game kindly and it's looking better than ever.

The Hell Dorado miniatures are awesome. Eurynome the Demon Puppeter is one of my all time favorite models 🙂
Those look like some really nice sculpts. Wouldn’t mind getting a box for a paint up.
nice sculpts, will have to check them out…
The quick look at the minis in the video look nice but I can only find one Helldorado mini for sale on their store.
Cipher is still in the process of transfering everything over from Asmodee (the company that used to publish Helldorado) and as a result it is difficult to find the minis. The figure on Cipher’s site will only be available during GenCon as are the starter boxes at the event. A proper rulebook and the first rerelease of minis is still a couple months off but it is great to see new products for a great game. If you don’t want to wait for the rerelease of the minis in multiple languages the French originals are still available from some online… Read more »
Cipher had a limited number of starters available at Gen Con, which is why you can’t find them in the store. They aren’t quite available as of yet outside of Gen Con.
I think they want to get over the rush of finally getting all the materials, castings, models, etc, from Asmodee and release Helldorado properly without any mistakes.
I’m so glad my ninja was able to get a hold of some of the starters for me. I can’t wait to play this game.
Finally, I’ll be able to buy The Sarrasins starter :), just hope to content won’t change.
I was able to demo the heck out of this game as well as Pulp City at the Cipher booth. What a great game and models. I covered for the guys on Friday and my nickname became “Helldorado Bob” while at Gen Con. The army packs went from roughly 200 points down to starter packs at 100 points. This gives everyone a smaller price point to get into the game, while giving you more options to begin collection your range of models (if you bought the 200 point army pack, you may not like some of the models.). The smaller… Read more »
I forgot to mention that the Cipher guys love this game and want to treat it and the customers, both old and new, right.
They do have a plan to release an English book as well as an up-coming plan to release the minis on a regular schedule.
Are the quickstart rules available for download Varagon?
Found the quick start rules on the Cipher website :-

As already mentioned the smaller starter allows for a lower cost of entry and a greater degree of customization. It will also make it easier to aquire more troops without as many duplicates of the named independents and officers. (Though it still would be nice to be able to purchase just the troopers; something for the future perhaps)
Sweet, this has looked awesome for a long time! Can’t wait to see it released worldwide. Is this going to be a “Helldorado 1.5”, or are the rules the same-same?
Talking with the Cipher guys at the booth all four days I found that they don’t want to mess with the rules too much, if at all. Just some tweaking to make the rules more readable and clear for US and English consumption. They didn’t mention any reworks, but at this point, I think they just want to sit down and look at everything that’s on their plate. Essentially, my take was that the rules were going to be the same with some rewording for us English folks. I don’t think they had the final Asmodee Helldorado items in the… Read more »
As idlethought mentioned, the rules will be the newer 1635 rules, which are very much a 1.5 version of the original set. In addition they will include the rules and profiles for the Immortals which were absent from the French rulebook as well.
I don’t see them changing too much, I imagine the rules/cards will be updated to the 1635 rules and the immortals will probably be included in the new rulebook. I think that is all we can expect at first, though a few more changes might be neccesary (some characters could use a bit of a reworking to make them more competative). It is hard to say until we see a proper rule set (hopefully in the coming months). If you have any questions though I would encourage you to visit Cipher’s boards… http://cipher-studios.com/forum/index.php …they do respond to the community and… Read more »
