Mantic Games has put together a video this week showing off How To Play Epic Warpath. This is their 10mm scale Sci-Fi wargame set in the Warpath universe coming to Kickstarter next week!
How To Play Epic Warpath // Mantic Games
Matt and Andy run you through a game of Epic Warpath, exploring setting up your armies, the basic mechanics, issuing your orders and more. The Enforcers find themselves going up against The Plague in this battle and whilst this is a good chance to see the mechanics, it also gives you a closer look at the miniatures (prototypes) that you'll get to use.
Talking of miniatures, more previews have popped up on the Mantic Games Blog. They are looking really good!
Enforcer Jetbikes // Epic Warpath
We've got more for the Enforcers and The Plague but there are also Asterians and Forge Fathers waiting in the wings to help boost up the number of factions for the game to four.
Plague Striders // Epic Warpath
Make sure to give the How To Play video above a watch and tell us what you make of the game. Does it tick your boxes for a 10mm mass battle game? Are there some particular mechanics that sealed the deal for you?
Let us know in the comments!

To be fair I couldn’t bring myself to watch the video. “how to play” videos that are over 90 minutes long scare me off. An in-person “let me walk you through the rules” demo game is one thing if you play yourself but just watching? Not for me gov’ner. I like the format FFG used for X-Wing and Legion. One part of the game, one short video. Not more than 10 minutes. Worked great for me.
I watched it but had to change the playback speed to 1.75x, you could still understand everything they were saying as they were speaking so slowly it was pretty hard to watch. The whole thing was long and drawn out and could have been handled better as you said. The quality was fine but it was LONG.
The FFG X-Wing tutorials set the bar I think.
Really impressed by how much better the models look once they are painted up – had been very underwhelmed by them until now but the armies look good. The video was a misfire for me – a tutorial game that’s the same length as a movie is no interest to me. I’m not a big fan of bat reps unless they have an interesting narrative going on in them though so that’s not a surprise. I also like to re-watch sections if I want to go back over the rules so the fact they haven’t bothered to chapter mark it… Read more »
That was one of the most boring play videos I have ever see. Couldnt even finish it.
The rules mechanics are solid. No doubt they have a great foundation to build on.
However, its boring. So boring. Same old same old game. Ive seen it before a hundred times.
Line up on the seperate board sides and march at each other firing weapons until someone wins.
What the hell is wrong with game developers these days, they are so lazy there is no innovation whatsoever.
