Follow along in Part One of this series where John discusses the ships, his love for the real Olympic Class Ocean Liners, their careers and the misfortunes whilst building them in miniature on the tabletop.
This is going to come together into an awesome hobby and painting series exploring the introduction of majestic Historical ships into the Steampunk world of Dystopian Wars.
If you want more information on the real-life Olympic Class Liners and the other ships during the golden age of steam and industry, check out Oceanliner Design and let Mike Brady wax lyrical about one of the most interesting periods across the 19th and 20th Centuries.
What do you think about this new project?
needs tiny people on the front with arms spread wide….
Genuinely enjoyed and found that really interesting, a really good idea. I’ve been really interested in dystopian wars and this further stokes my interest.
I didn’t realize they had civilian shipping in this pack. May have to get it now. Modeling your ships on the Titanic class is a really good idea. I’d definitely recommend heavy weathering for Olympic and Britannic but I’m more curious to see how Olympic turns out as I plan to make my Union fleet in the white and buff scheme.
Titan is a nice nod to the 1898 story about the Titan passenger liner that sinks…spooky
Trivia quiz: What was the biggest civilian naval disaster in history ?
I fell out of a kayak once, does that count?
Was that by any chance on a residential to Lisnaskea, while suped up on Poitín? 😉
Cracking new project, looking forward to watching along. Great to find another Oceanliner Designs fan out there – don’t know if you’ve seen the Titanic Wreck Discoveries video on Mike’s other channel but it is fantastic
