DUST Operation Babylon Kickstarter Update
April 26, 2016 by stvitusdancern
Paolo Parente posted on his Facebook page Paolo Parente's DUST 1947 an update regarding the wave three of the Operation Babylon Kickstarter.
All of us backers who still are waiting for the rest of our pledges will be happy to hear that the wave has completed manufacturing and is getting ready for assembly and then sorting to be packaged and shipped to awaiting gamers.
This has been a very long process and obviously it has not always gone smoothly, but it is nice to see it coming to an end and we can put this chapter behind us and those of us who still believe in the game and love playing it (Dawn, Lloyd and Myself included) can move on to the next bigger campaign in the new and rebranded DUST 1947.
Speaking of new campaigns, on the World War DUST facebook page there is a new positing for a PDF for a summer campaign. For those of you who think DUST has died, would be surprised to see a very active community.
I realize that it will take quite a bit of goodwill on Paolo's group to win back fans, but I believe he maybe on the right track. In the mean time I look forward to the rest of my pledge and am very happy to play with what I already have.
What do you think is there life in DUST after all?

It’s good to see that this whole saga is nearly at an end. Looking forward to getting the remains of my pledge but also seeing Dust as a brand move on to greater things.
I tried really hard to stop being bitter over how all of this was handled, the blame game both companies played made it really hard. At the end of the way its nice to see them moving past it, over the past few months Dust Studios have successfully delivered products to paying customers so it would seem theyve learned from the experience. Personally Dust as a game is one I will not buy into a second time, simply because the entire experience ruined it for me and the dishonest I feel coming out of BOTH companies was more than I… Read more »
With the amount of rule versions that Dust has now gone through and the attitude of the companies involved I will not trust anything to do with Dust again.
I am looking forward to seeing if I can get some use out of the minis with Warlord Games’ Konflict 47.
As someone looking in from the outside to Dust, given all the bad publicity if I was going to scratch a Weird War II itch (which I don’t have) I’d probably wait on Warlord Games’ Konflikt ’47. Weird World War II is very much a niche genre and with the increasing competition if Dust Studio’s aren’t careful I can see them get pushed out of the market. Social media hissy-fits are just bad business and more likely to detract Dust in the eyes of any future investors or partner companies.
I hope Dust can continue and start to bring in more players as I’d actually like to give it a go. I just don’t know anyone who plays locally at the moment.
Having said that i do honestly think the damage is done and it’s probably going to be too little too late regardless of what they do. It’s not like there’s a lack of Weird World War out there and with Warlords offering coming soon it’s only going to make it harder to make a come back.
I’ve loved Dust from the start and was even lucky enough to have a quick game with Lloyd during the Team Yankee Bootcamp. I supported the Kickstarter with enough excitement and enthusiasm to persuade many of my friends to pledge as well… we all know what happened then. Many of my friends sold off what they had and will be selling anything else they receive. There are a few of us that still play occasionally but my enthusiasm has taken quite a knock, possibly fatally. I’ll be intrigued to see what the new rules have to offer and what I… Read more »
On a somewhat related note, if anyone goes into a DUST induced rage and smashes up their SSU minis, please let me know. I want the central strip from the cockpit as well as the two cockpit canopies from an SSU Attack Helicopter for a conversion I have planned.. and I really don’t want to break up mine 😀
I’m glad that they are finally nearing the end of this saga but I’m really concerned that they are bringing out yet another ruleset and another set of cards. Most of the players I had locally had all but given up thanks to the KS farce but when I mentioned more new rules (especially given how poorly the current starter rules are) and more cards, all of which have been delayed for over six months now, Dust stands no chance with them anymore. Most would rather just wait until Konflikt 47 comes out and know that it is likely to… Read more »
Well, I just started Dust actually because of Beasts of War. I just found out about this site here some weeks ago and then discovered some videos on Dust and stared it with my son who is now in the right age for wargames… finally. And since Dust is quite easy to learn, it was just the right decision to start with this game. I got an old core game from ebay, found some new rules and it is just a lot of fun.The downside is, that all those fine old models and units are really hard to get and… Read more »
The moment I heard there was strife going on and it being made public, I knew that this is a company that I don’t want to deal with. Even if they do resolve the issues.
Well…so much rumor only for solving the KS Chaos months late…and now who’s the fault? by the way i love Beast of War, here you can reply without being banned (as in the FB Dust pages) 🙂
