WizKids and Wizards of the Coast Join Forces for DnD Minis
February 9, 2014 by dracs
WizKids have announced that they will be working with Wizards of the Coast to bring us a new range of pre-painted miniatures specifically for Dungeons and Dragons.
Now, pre-paints are never usually as good as miniatures painted by yourself (unless, of course, it was painted by me, in which case pre-paints are much better), but they do mean that you have some miniatures that are ready for use as soon as you receive them.
WizKids have been making pre-paint miniatures for quite a while now, so a range of DnD miniatures is a promising prospect. This dedicated range of models should hopefully allow players to find whatever it is they need for their game.
Are you going to use these minis when they see their release along with the next addition of Dungeons and Dragons?

This is interesting news.
I’m kind of surprised to see these two companies get together for something like this. WizKids/Topps are direct competitors with Wizards of the Coast/Hasbro in several markets (including Pathfinder Battles, the Paizo version of this same product). They must have made one hell of a production offer to get this deal. One wonders if WoTC had trouble finding another production partner that they felt could meet demand (since there are so many new players in the prepaint market these days, and most of them have experienced severe production delays). I think this underscores how much WoTC is banking on D&D… Read more »
For pre-painted, those aren’t half bad. But I wonder what sort of plastic will be used to make’m.
Hard plastic? Good. Bendy plastic? Meh.
Disappointing news… All the heroclix I have seen over the past few years since neca bought wiz kids have been completely awful… The 3d sculpts look amazing… But the finished in store product breaks my heart.
All of the figures I have seen have list so much detail and had the paint slipped on do poorly and heavily that their faces might as well not even haven been scored at all…
What about the Pathfinder Battles minis? Those are pretty good as prepaints go (certainly better than the old D&D ones), and they’re made by WizKids.
