For this weeks unboxing we're cracking out the fantastic D&D Collectors Series Miniatures from the guys over at Gale Force 9. Justin is joined today by Craig and Gabi to have a chat about them and talk about how they'd paint them up for their games of D&D.

Ah Drow, good ol’ Drow. Be fun to see where this range goes as the series expands. Looks nice quality too overall.

I need this Eye Tyrant ! He’s so cute ! 😀
Tentacles tentacles tentacles tentacles…
Regarding the blind Beholder bit, you could paint it up as a death tyrant – pretty sure they either have no central eye or it looks all milky.
LOL, looks like Justin had performance anxiety with his purple worm 😉
I would go with the milky eye but drill a pin or two into it and model some arrow shafts protruding from the eye. Add a bit of bloodshot loveliness and that should do it.
I did love unboxing these mini’s 🙂 and on a side note the out takes will never see the light of day!!! XD

Awww… 🙁
I want to see a Beasts of War blooper episode!
The pet rock should always be called Trelawny
(Radio 3/Classic FM listeners will know why)
Enjoyed the unboxing and the hot seating worked imho
Some very nice sculpts there. I like the Deurgar lots
Need to go adventuring to get treasure so I can buy lovely minis. lol
Sod my lack of willpower, just bought an Eye Tyrant to add to my massive pile of stuff to paint, at least he’ll get in there ahead of the Reaper Bones KS delivery that will hopefully get here before xmas.
Good unboxing I loved the minis but I’m really hoping that they put some of these out as individuals, I’ve been building a Gnoll warband using Reaper/Bones figures and I would love to include this one in.
It should be pointed out I feel that while this Collectors Series is indeed an impressive collection of miniatures the horde of models you can get from the likes of Dungeon Command and the various ‘Adventure Games’ are also top quality plastics for using as fodder. For example in each of the Adventure Games, Ravenloft, Ashardalon and Drizzt you get enough heroes and models to pretty much cover any monster you can think of from the MM’s. With these being limited edition the boxed games provide a perfect way to bolster your collection. That and the Dungeon Command/Adventure Games are… Read more »
I swear all the best things I said were in the outtakes… xD
Liked the purple worm best I think. 😉
Great minis, nice new presenters – too many ad breaks. It looks like you’re switching from seat to seat so that you don’t have to move the camera, which makes sense, but it would be less annoying if you just simply made a transition fade into the next person in the hot seat, using a large picture of the box art between the fades, so that we get a better look at what the next item is and how it looks painted, before seeing it unboxed. The one eyed monster reminds me of DOOM. Lol, “one eyed monster” and “purple… Read more »
My opinion… and I appologize for the wall of text. What I like about this is the fact that this collection all fits together as they got in the big guys that everyone likes/hates going against, and the small guys that everybody needs, which is simply a brilliant marketing strategy. As for the detail: I love it. As a DM myself, I wouldn’t see the worth in getting anything collectors edition without it, and the time doing the detail, for me, will be time well spent scheming horrible horrible adventures for my group, where I would use my new bought… Read more »
Does anyone know where you can buy these in the UK?
I like your reviews on anything to do with Dungeon and Dragons. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Beasts of War, you have made my son interested in the hobby and his reading has improved ten fold. Personally I have been watching your channel for years and I’m just about to subscribe to Backstage. Good luck to Warren, Lloyd and Justin and all the team back in Ireland. I hope you keep going for years to come so me, my son and thousands of others can have loads of fun.
