A New Dungeon Saga Adventure Awaits – The Warlord Of Galahir Coming Soon
June 6, 2016 by brennon
The newest adventure awaits you in Mantic Games' Dungeon Saga as they look ahead to the release of The Warlord Of Galahir. A new storyline, new heroes and a challenging quest awaits you...
In this particular quest...
"Join the battle to free the imprisoned merchant Pietor Grube from the clutches of foul Orcs, recover the treasures of Sarennia and destroy the tyrannical warlord despoiling the once idyllic forests of Galahir.
Do you have what it takes to restore peace and civility to the good people of Penn-Scarr?"
It sounds very cool indeed and introduces some new heroes with the likes of Kapoka the Gladewalker Druid and the Salamander named Hrrath joining the roster of heroes you can fight with.
I like that they've leaned towards the Forces of Nature with these heroes and as I said in the news story about the preview I think that Kapoka is certainly one of the best models they've made to date. Their work on the treemen and their kin is some of the best they've done in recent years.
Legendary Heroes
Legendary versions of these heroes are also available for you to pick up and I have to say they are no less epic...
I think Kapoka is still the coolest right?
Enemies
Of course it wouldn't be a dungeon without some enemies. The Orcs are led by the dangerous looking Thundrak.
He is supported by Orcs, Goblins, Mawbeasts and even a Troll! I love these coloured plastics and it's neat to see them provide you with some fascinatingly well detailed miniatures to boost your collection to a new level. You're going to have fun painting these.
This seems like a great excuse to leap back into the world of Dungeon Saga, especially since the Adventurer's Companion, The Return of Valandor and Infernal Crypts are also available right now on their webstore allowing you to get a whole bunch of new content if you missed out the first time.
Will you be taking on this quest?

This Orc chap Thundrak looks great despite the foot-resting-on-stone pose. The fabulous paintjob easily makes up for this 😎
Glad to see Mantic supporting Dungeon Saga with lots of quest expansions. I’m still painting up the base set of DS, but the few games I played of it were really quite fun. Here’s hoping my gaming group finds it as entertaining so I can justify buying the expansions. 😀
I backed Dungeon Saga and I have to say I quite like Kapoka however Hrrath does little to inspire me, I think it’s the pose and the fact that his mouth looks like it’s been stitched together, the legendary version of Hrrath is a bit better. What is interesting here is that the legendary Kapoka is not the same as the one given to backers
scratch that last bit, it is the same mine was just so mis-shapen that it looks different
This looks lovely. I will be sure to tell my flgc’s resident lover of all things Mantic about this.
The Orc models are quite nice as far as single piece gaming figures go. I currently have a bucket load of DS stuff from the kickstarter waiting to be painted and the Orcs are definitely my favourite of all the monsters
always keen for dungeon crawlers new products. loving the new orcs. very nice
I am really glad to see that the computer didn’t kill the dungeon crawler. I know that the RPG was going to be safe but I worried for the dungeon crawler at times. I think that I was wrong, it seems it couldn’t be more healthy atm.
They did die for a while but there’s been a bit of a resurgence over the last couple of years
I prefer the bad guys here. Especially these two: The Troll seems quite nice to me. And that is really some achievement considering the extreme proportions (ridiculous small waist and short legs for the bulging shoulders and arms as well as zero fat and gym fit defined muskles…). Except for the odd “I show you my weapon” pose of the right arm. And the left hand weapon might be a bit cheesy. The orc archer looks well done and reminds of classy old school days of the orcs. The other orcs and critters follow that path with some more or… Read more »
I think that Mantic are slowly settling into a design aesthetic for their fantasy ranges that is in fact quite cartoonish. If you look at the cover of Dungeon Saga, the Barbarian model is actually a very close match. I actually quite like the style (even if the quality of their models can often leave a lot to be desired) although I can imagine it’s a style that’s not to everyone’s taste.
Look, I’m glad that a budget range exists for people to get into this kind of thing, but I’m struggling to like any of the miniatures here, in addition to believing other people actually like the Mantic aesthetic.
If you look at the last picture, with the green models, you can see the end of the spear of one of the little guys in the swarm is barely attached. That’s an official picture from the Mantic website.
All of the models seem to have too small heads, massive bodies, arms that are too long, and legs that are too short.
I’ve got these models already (kickstarter backer) and the models themselves aren’t perfect but the spear tip hardly being connected is a trick of the lighting and the plastic that has been used. The models are a uPVC plastic that has a slightly translucent quality at certain thicknesses, such as that spear tip. But the actual plastic itself is still fairly strong, even on that joint. Some of the miniatures can be a little wonky straight out of the box but that is easily fixed using hot and cold water. I managed to straighten the spear tip on those swarms… Read more »
This looks awesome. I backed the game on KS but didn’t have enough money for the expansions, but I’ll pick this up at some point. I don’t much like either of the heroes, but the orcs look amazing!
