Dark Sword Release An Epic Giant & First Dragon Of The Month!
November 28, 2022 by brennon
Dark Sword Miniatures has dropped a whole host of new releases for this month but I wanted to focus on a couple of miniatures that totally got my attention. The first of these is the impressive new Frost Giant sculpt by Tom Meier which just so happens to be the biggest one they have ever sculpted!
Frost Giant // Dark Sword Miniatures
This new miniature comes in 28mm scale and is a pretty impressive resin creation. He comes with four different weapon options for you to choose from and could well be just what you need for your next D&D session.

Weapons-wise, he comes with the option of the spiked club or the axe as you can see above but he also has a big bit of tree to hit things with and some poor knight that thought they could beat this mighty fellow!

To give you an idea of scale, you can head on over to the Dark Sword webstore but a regular 28mm figure comes up to just above the lip of his furry boots. The pose also looks great on this fellow as he is in the process of bending down to give someone a good smack! I think he's going to be quite the hit with a lot of D&D players and Mary Profitt did a great job on their scheme.
Dragon Of The Month!
As well as the Frost Giant, Dark Sword Miniatures also released the first of their Dragon Of The Month collection. I am a big fan of dragons so always happy to see more of them popping up, especially from folks like Dark Sword.
Black Dragon // Dark Sword Miniatures
Much like with the Frost Giant, this Black Dragon comes in resin. This time around, the sculptor was Andrew Pieper and has been designed (as the rest of them will be) to give off that Old School roleplaying feel. So, you'll see a lot of dragons that capture the look and feel of that old artwork from D&D's past.
Black Dragon // Dark Sword Miniatures
This Black Dragon was painted by Aaron Lovejoy who gave it a bit of a "faerie" feel with the way the colours shift. I think you could also go full evil if you wanted and really bring the black and purple to the fore. I like that they didn't immediately go for the acid-dripping-maw feel that you get from many Black Dragons though.
As you can see, the Black Dragon is a pretty fearsome sight and stands well above a regular adventure. I also like that the miniature isn't so big that it would be impossible to transport or indeed use on the tabletop with your gaming tiles.

If you're in the market for some awesome roleplaying miniatures, Dark Sword is certainly the way to go. It is worth having a look at their webstore as well to see if any of the other new releases for this month take your fancy. I am totally going to be keeping an eye on their Dragon Of The Month collection though to see when a Red Dragon pops up!
Are you going to be having a peek at more from Dark Sword?

Those two are really good looking monsters.
Anyone else see that giant and think of Alan Moore?
Yes! Especially in the closeup of his face on Dark Sword’s page. The resemblance is striking!
