Unboxing: Dark Souls – The Board Game
July 24, 2017 by crew
Get ready to praise the sun! Az is joined by Alex and Jamie from Steamforged Games as they unbox the titanic Dark Souls Board Game.
This colossal box contains twenty-seven highly detailed miniatures, featuring familiar mini-bosses and main bosses from the popular video game.
We talk through a few of the 252 cards in the game that show equipment, encounters, character statistics and actions that will provide a great deal of variety and replayability.
Are you a fan of the punishing Dark Souls games?

Love the video games and this is an excellent conversion to the table top.
This was my very first kickstarter.
So I am (probably) biased.
The game is awesome, my friends and I love playing it. Can’t wait for the second wave of shipping.
Really was impressed with the game and my concerns about having to repetively “farm” rooms didn’t come to fruition I’m glad to say. The minis are spot on and I look forward to all the crazy stretch goal plans to come 🙂 Az
I played a friend’s copy of the game, and we had some trouble with it.
The core combat is terrific, but the pacing needs some serious fixing (overly long, repetitive and anti-climactic).
I’ve been hoping that Steamforge would print an official fix, because I liked the other aspects of the game so much. I don’t know that it is likely though.
Yes the minis are good and it’s a fun game.
And already learned something that we weren’t doing.
Thanks guys.
I’d like to see you guys do a few Let’s Play’s of this game.
And definitely bring Warren, It should be great fun to watch.
This ones got my attention, and I’m not even a fan of the video game.
Great unboxing @thisisazreal. Looking forward to some games.
I got my copy a few weeks ago. Didn’t got around playing it yet or even read the rulebook. But I am a great fan of the series and the contents of the box look awesome so far. Looking forward to some Let’s Plays!
Fun game. Once you get the rules they ‘get out of the way’. Not as much of a repetitive grindcas you may think and good co-op challenge… or solo if you prefer.
Can’t wait for my KS Wave 2!
The figures remind me of Alice in Wonderland
This was a kickstarter I went all in for on the strength of the models. I’d never even heard of the video game it’s based on, let alone been a fan of it. Now that I’ve got it in my hands, I am impressed with the miniatures and the other components. I hope the game is going to be fun though. I can’t say that I’m overly optimistic that grinding through bosses and memorising their attack patterns is going to be fun. Perhaps when I was a teenager and had more time. But these days, I want to get on… Read more »
I didn’t back the game on KS but I’d happily watch some play throughs
