Build a starfleet, explore the galaxy, conquer planets and take over the universe for your species. Representing one of six species, players move around the tile layout, flipping tiles as they move. Discoveries are revealed in this way allowing players to collect resources, claim planets, trade and build up their fleet for the inevitable confrontation which will occur as players extend their perimeter far enough to run into other players.
