Sans-Detour Continue To Preview Confrontation Classic For April
March 26, 2018 by brennon
Sans-Detour has put together a teaser trailer for their Confrontation Classic Kickstarter which is coming in April which you can see above! This was also joined by some new warband previews showing off what's coming your way.
We start things off with the Ophidian Alliance here which is another of the awesome alternative takes on Fantasy from the world of Confrontation. Who wouldn't want to run with some slithering snake-men as their warband of choice in the game?
Equally as impressive we also have the Lions Of Alahan here too. I really like the wizardly fellow at the front of the unit and the banner bearer at the back. I think they have a great sense of motion about them, mostly brought on by that fellow's beard!
Things get all druidic with the Kelt Of The Drunes Clan added into the mix as well here. Anything that involves some Celtic designs gets my vote and a thumbs up. Their beasts are very well designed and the fellow at the front with the horned helm looks like he'd be awesome to paint.
We next turn our attention to two different sets of Elves. Leading the way we have the Daikinee Elves who feature some very interesting looking creatures inspired by insects and the like. Who wouldn't want to paint up that almost scarab-like warrior on the right and go to down on the armour plating?
Last but not least we have the Cynwall Elves who are once again beyond what you'd expect from Elves. They have an awesome ghostly quality to them and very much fall into that category of 'lithe and agile'.
You will have no doubt noticed now by reading this that I'm not exactly up to date with all of my Confrontation lore so if anyone in the comments wants to drop some major nuggets for us there and tell us more about these different factions it would be awesome to hear where they fit into the world.
Which faction has caught your eye?

Those look really good.
I always loved the look of the Louisiana.
Might be time to scrounge up my confrontation novels
Ophidians . That autocorrect
To be fair, Louisiana is also a nice place lol 😉
Wouldn’t know. Never been there
Some interesting groups to chose from.
My only concern with this is whether they can successfully move those beautiful sculpt to pvc or whatever material they are using.
Still, Master of Carnage is in there, so having the best ,sculpt of them all available again has to be good.
I love him, along with the Eclipsante models and…actually and a whole boat load of them, probably the reason I have 90 odd Wolfen from both factions.
If they cast in resin like CMON did I have no issues, I’ve held a few of those and they’re excellent, lack the heft of a proper model but still worth it 😉
The last thing we’re going to see will be substandard bendy minis, I think they know where that path leads
Okay @brennon here’s a very brief primer, The Introduction to 3rd edition was the following; If one is subject to fervour or doubt, if one believes in magic or in science, if one seeks one’s future in the stars or in one’s own hands, the signs are there… The Age of Darkness has befallen the continent of Aarklash. The Incarnates, champions of the gods, return to bring the fury of the lords of Creation to their enemies’ lands. Dark Empires born of anger, of jealousy and of vanity join together to install a reign of terror. The heralds of virtue… Read more »
The Factions themselves are split into three groups The Ways of Light; which include, The Kelts of the Sessairs clan The Lions of Alahan The Griffins of Akkylannie The Cynwall Elves The Meanders of Darkness; Which includes, The Limbo of Acheron The Alchemists of Dirz The Kelts of the Drune clan The Dwarves of Mid-Nor The Akkyshan Elves The Paths of Destiny; more neutral groups, The Dwarves of Tir-Na-Bor The Goblins of No-Dan-Kar The Orcs of Bran-O-Kor The Wolfen of Yllia The Devourers of Vile-Tis The Daikinee Elves
as you can see that makes 15 factions, but the Kickstarter is for 16… well the Ophidians were mentioned as an Elder race, who had died in a war of mutual extinction with the Utopia of the Sphinx. But rumours of a race of secretive serpent people dwelling beyond the borders of the Bran-O-Kor lands. The Ophidians were only starting to be fleshed out before the change to plastic and the end of Confrontation, the above minis represent pretty much the whole range they had, as compared to the other factions which are a small selection of extensive ranges. ….maybe… Read more »
For completion’s sake… On the factions: Cadwallon is faction 16. Also, the Behemoth Orcs are rather a separate faction, too, but Sans Detour mixed them in here with the Bran-O-Kor Orcs of the jackal god (…lacking sense by the traditional perspective. The Behemoths even have their own pendant to the Jackal Warriors unit: the Wind Warriors.) On the Ophidians: That pack is “only” about half of the ophidian range. Missing are another 7-8 models: S’ygma (the character with the parasol), the Vortiran, that slave character, the other two apostates of the box (plus the extra sculpt with the two fist-blades… Read more »
Oh, and obviously they took in the Ophidians as a faction. They were a playable faction, after all, and not the Akkyshan elves who only had one model. ^^
Sry, by pendant I mean equivalent. 😉
