Conan RPG & Shadows Of Atlantis Covers Revealed By Modiphius
May 28, 2015 by brennon
Modiphius have shown off the front cover artwork for but one book but two this week. The Conan RPG has now got its fantastic artwork by the renowned artist Sanjulian as does the expansion adventure Shadows of Atlantis for Achtung Cthulhu...
By Crom!
The first piece of artwork is for the Conan RPG and it's a great wrap around piece that is a lot larger. That means hopefully we get to see more heroes battling it out on the rear of the book!
The artist, Sanjulian, approached Modiphius to do the piece of artwork because of his love of the Barbarian and the fact they were aiming to create a proper role-playing game that echoed the epic and brutal feel of the world. I think the artwork is awesome!
Achtung!
On the other hand we have a new piece of artwork for the cover of Shadows of Atlantis by Dim Martin which is no less epic in its scale showing off a massive monster chasing the heroes in their plane...
Both pieces are filled with action and bring the world to life which is exactly what you want with cover art. It has to entice the role-player in and give a flavour for the world at the same time.
In the case of the Conan piece is shows two heroes battling giant monsters in a grim struggle for survival. In the Cthulhu one you have that heroic and cinematic moment towards the end of a film where the heroes are gunning it in their plane to escape a huge monster while the music pounds away in the background.
Some awesome artwork!

There are sooooooooo many sword and sorcery RPGs on the market, old ones, new ones, etc. I don’t really see why anyone would buy into a new publishers system. The Mongoose stuff was terrible for mechanics and kind of OK for content. eBay is a good source for older versions of Conan RPGs, and there are nearly limitless Conan knock offs that people could use (D&D itself… Read more »
