Mythic Games Announce Joan Of Arc Comic Book Series
March 29, 2018 by brennon
Mythic Games has announced that they are working alongside Dabel Brothers Publishing to create a Time Of Legends: Joan Of Arc comic book series.
Artwork for some of the early covers has already been shown off by the Mythic Games team, featuring the heroic lady battling against all manner of different foes.
"An all-female team is leading the artistic direction of the series. Member of the team Mel Joy San Juan, who is well known for her work on Sherrilyn Kenyon's Acheron comic series said, "I've studied Joan of Arc since my school years, and she was inspirational. I'm honoured to bring this project to life"."
This is certainly an awesome way to tell more stories about the game and build the narrative for Mythic Games' world. A book obviously offers up a great look into the universe but I think that comics and graphic novels continue to build on the visualisation of the world and help when it comes to painting and hobby too.
It will be interesting to see what stories they look to tell from the Time Of Legends: Joan Of Arc game, maybe based on scenarios and such that you're playing, both Historical and Fantastical.
If this goes down well then there's also the potential for Mythic Games to use this alongside some of their other Time Of Legends projects. After all, Joan Of Arc seems to just be the tip of the iceberg for this particular game series.
Will you be checking these out?

Brilliant pictures.
wow
that’s some beautiful looking comic book art right there. it’s things like this, when done properly, that take a title to the next level. i can’t wait to see where they go with this in the future, especially if mythic do something none historical or existing IP related. given how consistently good the artwork is and having comic book support i would be interested to see a narrative LCG from them that incorporates these and other elements.
if i was a betting man i’d say this is the brain child of our own @redben.
Hm. I never got what people see in comic styles like this. This is the super hero comic standard look of the last decade or so. Seriously, where’s the individual take? Possibilities are almost limitless illustration. I’m missing new ways in visual expression.
A heart bleeding peace out.
To be honest, that was also my first impression.
I can’t really see why these should be interesting enough to bother checking out.
Looks like a refugee from the Sisters of Battle.
I am confused, it looks like each cover was done by a different person.
The top picture looks like a modern style and I would love to see a whole series in that style. The bottom cover picture looks like something out of a Marvel super hero comic. The middle two I am not sure but I do not like the style of either one.
I still would like to see these but I want to see the writing for the stories and not just the pictures.
I am presuming these are testers provided by various artists to see which artwork style is preferred by the company
Great looking art work.
That first image would make a superb poster – she is gorgeous, the pose is dramatic.
Welp, I’m sold 🙂 looking fantastic and these will be a great way to get into the storeys behind the game 🙂
I really like the second one. Great idea.
Sorry, it’s the third one I like.
Probably should have just said the one on the horse.
“an all female team” since when is this important to be pointed out?
Who cares about the gender of the team, are they good, do they have behind them good work? that’s all one should care about, that is what I care about, is the product good?
On the actual covers art style seems to be all over the place.
