Warlords Games’ Bolt Action Rules Go Digital
August 13, 2014 by stvitusdancern
Warlord Games announced today that they now have all of their current books for Bolt Action available as a direct download from their web store and you can save a few dollars (or pounds).
I know those of you in the UK could download some of their books through Amazon.uk but for the rest of us this is exciting news. I now can have access to my rule book and armies books without the extra weight. I, however love the books with their full colour pages. There is something about sitting down with a real book. As a game player though I have enough stuff to carry as it is.
Will you be upgrading your rules collection?
This is fantastic! I can now grab the rulebook without having to wait for it to ship. Love it.
I have all the books so far. With a bit of smart shopping it only cost me £10 of Amazon for everything
Except for the main book, which at some point I will get the digital version, I think this will be great for the nation’s books and the upcoming book on the great war.
I have found that I prefer pdf books on my kindle fire to the real paper versions when I am traveling around.
Nah, I prefer to hold the book in my hands.
Good for you, this isn’t replacing the dead tree format though and gives people a further option to take advantage of if they see the need, at the prices Amazon.co.uk charge they’re a bit of a bargain too!
Yes, I can see that. I just do not like it personally because I hate reading books in digital versions. I am getting tired faster and it is slower even if using a ebook reader like Kindle (IMHO) However I do not have anything against people using digital versions if they like why shouldn’t they do it?
I’m recently finding digital books work better for me **IF** you have a handy mobile device such as iPad or Kindle. If for no other reason than .pdf word searches for quick access to small rules details (“Damn . . . how did light cover work vs. heavy machine guns if the unit is elite but pinned again?”). If you want to get serious (and you have the right software), you can even annotate the .pdf with your own “post-it notes.” 🙂
Ha! I can see your point @oriskany. Living in the digital era is quite convenient with all the applications that make our lives easier. However, I do not know why despite using computers, laptops and mobile devices most of the time at work and after it I am a traditionalist when it comes to books. That’s just my wicked way.
I also prefer a real book. It’s the tactility and even the smell. I can see the benefit of not lugging weighty tomes around. However i find ebooks hard to read as they mess my eyes up. So I’m with you @yavasa. Plus I’m scared I’ll drop my pad down the loo when i assume the correct reading position.
When oh when will they ever make a modern line? I keep waiting for a Bolt Action modern line so modern marines with modern tanks can duke it out Akmed the dead terroist.
