Warlord Get Stug Into a New Tank Mini
November 6, 2013 by dracs
Warlord Games are hard at work bringing to Bolt Action one of the most heavily used tanks of the WWII German Army; the Stug III Ausf. D.
The Stug III was used initially as infantry support, but also saw heavy modification so it could be used as a tank hunter. Warlord are once again doing a great job in accurately transferring the design of the actual tank into miniature version. Even this relatively early stage is looking impressive, so it will be cool to see the final model on the fields of Bolt Action.
Can any of you tell us anything more about these tanks?

Way to go spark an intrest @dracs
I’ve been hemming and hawing about this… is it better to pay for a Bolt Action tank in resin with possible warping or a Tamiya model at 1:48 which is perhaps more accurate with scale? I’m guessing the Bolt Action one would be more resilient to play, but the details on the model would be much better. I think the Tamiya models have a die-cast chassis, so they’d have some weight to them. The price is similar, although the Tamiya is maybe a bit cheaper for me. And I do want to support Warlord because the game is (or at… Read more »
I’ve only got the one Bolt Action tank but there was no warping. It’s just 4 very substantial pieces of resin (and a bag of smaller pieces in metal). It’s low down in the queue for attention on the painting desk but I absololutely love it. It’s the undoubted star of the British army box set for me.
I made a stug for a friend of mine to use in his bolt action game and some things are very easy to break. But as the stug has it’s schurzen it’s not so easy to break while maneuvering on the battlefield. The die cast does put some weight to it, but I prefer my model to have some weight. And now you can buy extra after market stuff like metal barrels that add more and more detail to it for this scale to. I read a lot about the 1/48 vs 28mm scale, and I am still not sure… Read more »
I wish this was plastic instead of metal and resin.
