Warlord Games Roll Out The British Airborne Polsten Cannon
May 9, 2016 by brennon
Warlord Games have added the Polsten Cannon to their Bolt Action collection for the British Airborne to fly into their fighting in France and beyond.
This was a piece of kit designed by British, Polish and Czech inventors who were looking for a simple and easy to manufacture gun that could be used during the invasion.
Command preferred the bigger 40mm Bofurs but used this gun because it was lightweight, smaller, came in less components and could be used by the Airborne. It was sent in during Operation Market Garden and and the drop on Arnhem.
Not a bad little bit of field kit...

Odd they did it with the Oerlikon drum magazine and not the Polsten rectangular magazine.
Actually it seems like they were deployed with the 60 round drums when they were being loaded into gliders, possibly because one drum in the gun takes up less space than a box in the gun and one spare, or to keep the effective rate of fire up by spacing the reloads out more.
