Warlord Games Place The IS-3 On The Soviet Production Line
December 2, 2015 by dracs
Soviet Bolt Action players will soon be getting the latest in WWII Soviet tank technology as the IS-3 appears on the Warlord production line.
The IS-3 reportedly boasted a better armour lay out with its hemispherical gun turret becoming a a major feature of the Soviet's post-war tanks. Although that same turret did make the conditions in the tank infamously cramped.
Unfortunately, the IS-3 apparently arrived too late to see service in WWII itself, but that doesn't preclude its use in some alternate history gaming. The model looks to recreate the tank well and will be good to see the final piece finished and fighting alongside the rest of a Soviet army.
Will you bring Warlord's next tank into your fighting force?

Hold on . . . IS-3 in 28mm? That thing’s gonna be a BEAST! You’re gonna have to build structural supports in your display shelf! 😀 I don’t really game in 28mm but might get this just for display. As Sam says, too late for WW2, but they served in the Egyptian and Syrian armies in the 1956 Sinai War, 1967 Six-Day War, and were even upgraded as T-10s into the 1973 Yom Kippur / Ramadan War. Not too fast, not too modern. The gun was so big the crews had to load the ammo in two pieces, which hurt… Read more »
…falling in love again….
Some allegedly in Manchuria in 45…
If there were, probably spent the whole time broken down. The first production run had a very poor mechanical reputation…
I hope this means Warlord will be releasing the Maus soon.
…and what are you going to do with that?
Probably collapse a bridge while driving over it! 😛

Not as sexy as a Tiger II IMO but still pretty damn sexy
I still just want a T35 – but this might just do
Check out these pics posted forever ago, @rasmus . . . includes my 15mm T-35. It’s monstrous . . . I can only imagine the thing in 28mm. It would be like a foot long?

liking the is-3….shame the tracks look aweful …..be better if they looked a little looser and not so tight
Good eye, @apeman – you’re totally right. In photos you always see these heavy KV-style tracks drooping over the return rollers. These look a little tight.
love it, just love the shape of the tank.
Post-war from Warlord? If this is more than just a “what if?” piece, we may live in interesting (and impoverishing) times.
You can also use them in Middle Eastern Cold War scrums. The Egyptians had some, and I think the Syrians did too, along with the upgraded and stretched version, the T-10.
Very nice.
Resin or Plastic ? I want PLASTIC !
