Warlord Games Enters WWI With Upcoming Releases
August 3, 2014 by stvitusdancern
Warlord Games has announced that they will be releasing a new line of models to commemorate the 100th anniversary of WWI. The vehicles previewed with be cast in resin and there appears to be a nice range already in the works. They will of course have the German A7V along with the British Mark IV in it's various configurations. They are also previewing some French and Italian light tanks and armoured cars.
I can only take this to mean we will be seeing a WWI iteration of Bolt Action coming soon. Being a fan of Bolt Action, it will be interesting how Warlord Games handles the differences in combat styles between the two wars.
Will you be gearing up for the fight?
Sweet baby Jeebus and the orphans; I didn’t see that one coming. Really, I just ordered a ton of Great War Minis ww1 Brits..
Looking forward to this. I have some unpainted stormtroopers from a failed project somewhere they may now actually see the light of day.
Oh FT-17, how I love you.
I actually really enjoy using my tier one Renault FT (and variant) tanks in World of Tanks.
As to Bolt Action going WWI…I’m not sure how I feel. I think you can do some decent stuff at 28mm, though I’m thinking more along the lines of trench raids and less involving tanks. The Arab Revolt could be good for some scenarios, as well as the combat in Africa.
These look great. I believe that the game set in WWI needs a lot of terrain… especially trenches, artillery craters and runs plus some dead trees.
Oh for the love of tanks, its the A7v and Mark IV for me 🙂
Didnt GW copyright the design of the German A7V during the concepts for the Stormfang flyer? 😀 sorry couldnt resist.
Love my current Bolt Action models, so lets hope these continue. 🙂
“The best jokes are funny because they’re true.”
From what I’ve seen of 40K minis, a lot of their vehicles clearly have design elements lifted right off of World War 1 and 2 vehicles.
Does this herald a new set of rules from Warlord?
I can’t imagine how many pin markers you’d receive after a 5 day artillery bombardment.
I should think new rules are inevitable it will be interesting to see how they deal with things like a creeping barrage.
top man. creeping barrage rules if done properly could be incredible
@bigdave pretty devastating too if your infantry can’t keep up the pace.
The tanks are all very fun but the really really big thing for me will be (hopefully) lots of new plastics infantry kits. This will reinvent my gaming if Warlord come out with plastic British, French, Belgian, German etc etc. so easy to get and priced right. I know Great War minis already have them but warlord will be really well set out for kits can’t wait for this
What can i say…back to the future…..Warlord release the tank which inspired the mighty first land raider…..full circle!
any more price increases, may have to paint a Mark IV red and proxy it ‘yeah yeah naah, it’s pre-heresy that’s all… honest…’ 😛
