Warlord Games New April Deal Is Awesome!
April 19, 2016 by stvitusdancern
Warlord Games' Bolt Action WWII skirmish game has an incredible deal going on right now. You get a 6 man German Grenadiers squad and a Panzer IV F2/G in resin and you get it all for about half price.
Warlord had a terrific Salute and they want to continue the love to all of us (well some of you) that were not able to make the show. I love Bolt Action and anyway that makes it easier to add to an existing army or a quick way to bump up numbers when putting together a new army for new players.
Obviously, this set is designed for the early war period but honestly, there were still plenty of these around up to the end of the war. You better jump on this deal soon as it is ends at the end of the month or until supplies are all gone.
Do you play Bolt Action?
"...makes it easier to add to an existing army or an quick way to bump up numbers when putting together a new army for new players"
The troops are late war while the mark IV is early I think by the height of the commanders hatch and the lack of shertzern.
Nah, German Grenadier set is completely valid from 1942 onwards and Panzer IV F2/G was definitely from the same and later definitely.
Grenadiers are in field grey with the high waist so that makes them 1944/45.
Not to mention the stg/mp44
I’m thinking it’s a training school tank pressed into service near the very end of the war.
Yeah, the F2/G was the first model of the Panzer IV with the long 75mm gun which was used in late North Africa/early Italian theatres and of course in Russia in 1942 or so. Still, you can always use it as a commander’s tank that has happened to hang around long enough to not be replaced and to either never have the skirts put on or just lost in driving through the hedgerows. Great deal!
Wow, just looked up the Zeltband and apparently it was ordered in June 1930, thought it was much later than that. So apologies for my first post. Also the ankle boot and gaiter were more common by 1939. The Field grey tunic was 1943/45 while the camo smock was issued in 1938. It’s great what you can learn when you get it wrong
What I meant to say was that in Gianna’s post she called this set early war when the grenadier set is 1944/45.
Given they are carrying Sturmgewehr 44, I’m pretty sure their late war… the short boots also are typical post 43 look.
Only Waffen SS troops had camo smocks till mid-war when the Heer started using them too.
From what I’ve read the heer camo smock was introduced mid-late war.
Early war period the zeltbahn would be used as a cameo smock/ rain poncho
Yep your right, just looking at the pictures in Daniel Peterson’s ‘Wehrmact camouflage uniforms’, of early war Zeltahn worn as a smock.
Just looking at their article, the plastic sprue looks like it’s got 3 normal looking rifles a ppsh & Mp40 with mg42s, so could it be used as a 1942 ss unit in Russia?
nice.
Just been on the warlord website and they have a 15% off deal on their starter sets. Sorry I know this is not really the place but as the discussion is on uniforms and years it seems a great coincidence.
It’s a sprue from the late war German Grenadier Infantry box set and a mid war Tank. Cut to the chase do you want a £23 Tank for £15 ? and a sprue thrown in.
Myself I think it’s a good deal I play late war German mostly and I’m also putting together a DAK platoon. So the PzKpfw lV will be sent to North Africa and plastic guys to Normandy. Just need to get a few friends together to make an order to avoid P&P.
Very nice.
I think everyone agrees that it’s a good deal, but any opportunity to spit out all this wonderful uniform and equipment knowledge we have floating in our heads has to be exploited. It’s not like I can bring this sort of thing up at the work water cooler or family get-together…. 🙂
Lol
