they’re the best plastic sprue today, the faces are excellent. body positions are very dynamic. Have to get loads more of these.
love the minis and the Fez heads are if you want to run the 1st Croatian SS Handschar.
For too long we have been stuck with buying after market supplementary heads if we wanted to field the 13th Waffen Mountain Division, and finally a plastic option is available.
I may not use them, but the option is great to have.
So many StG’s your opponent will love you, unless your opponent is me…in which case, snap!
The spare fez heads allow you to build them as Croatian SS Handschar. I will be following @johnlyons progress closely for this army build.
You built NCOs that weren’t pointing? What kind of madness is this? 😀
John, you need to change hats for each episode so we can tell at a glance that it isn’t a replay of the first one. 🙂
Perhaps into a fez?
I have plenty of hats. But I’m a beanie man at my core. Unless you want me to wear my army cadet berret? 😛
Oh those things are spare LMG barrels? Guess who put the wrong backpacks on his Brit 2″ mortar team. D’oh! D’oh! D’oh! D’oh!
fantastic looking figures.
John, firstly, a big thanks for these Vlog series. Very interesting to follow. Secondly, I was very embarrassed with those minis. I wasn’t sure to mount and paint waffen-ss just because of what they were (like you’ve said in the first video). But, I can’t deny that the minis are awesome. More details than ever, Warlord makes a wonderful job (hope to see these new talents to create new models of their previous models) So, I think I’m about to buy a box to put in my german army. Again, thanks John to give us all these details about minis… Read more »
I don’t know how correct my thoughts on SS in gaming are. But I wouldn’t want to play them without a respectful understanding of who they were and what they done. Both in a military sense and political sense. Not that I think most gamers would criticize or judge your choice of army during a game. Through my experience as a reenactor I do find that you have to stay on your toes when deciding to do anything that has a darker side to it. You have to be able to justify without coming across as a sympathizer which can… Read more »
Totally agree with you.
I totally agree as well. I just like playing against these TroopsI
I just wanted to mention that there is a position for arms I am missing: a shooting MG like in the grenadiers sprues.
In 30 years odd gaming I still haven’t played the Germans in a WW2 game . I just can’t bring myself to do it? I have no objection to those that do other wise I would have nobody to play against. What I do find a bit weird and a bit objectional is those you see with games room with swastikas hung up and wearing SS unit t shirts. I think while playing the games you have to remember what they did in real life
Agree. I play the Germans a lot. Would never wear anything like that or display it in my Game Room. I do have a plain Iron Cross German Navy flag because it just looks cool. I have played SS before FOW but have found that they are not worth the points as Fearless Veterans, so I usually just go with Confident Vets. I can give you a good perspective on the SS though @johnlyons when I’m in Coleraine this Christmas if you’d like. Just let me know when you are available. I’m in Cookstown from the 21st through the 28th… Read more »
Liking the look of the new sprues, loving the Fez heads. I can see people using them for other projects, and not just for the WSS.
