loving it, I see you use a timescale very similar to my own for completing projects, “hopefully whenever” 😉
The dust drybrush works very well and once the AP dip is on it should tie it all together beautifully
Really enjoying this series. Love the Autumn camo scheme the best. I got into Bolt Action from watching your original German Infantry Painting video.
Wow. I didn’t think anybody here remembered that video. I cringe to look back on it now 😛
i love this series of SS, dam Dam DAM, did all my jackets and some pants of SS with a paint brush your last toothpick idea was a great idea. cry cry cry….. it would have made my attempt a lot faster lol.
Good show old man, good show…
If you are happy with the result you have then why worry about how long it took? 🙂
@johnlyons, slightly daft, slightly serious question… am thinking of looking again at WW2 but in 3mm for Sam Mustafa’s latest release Rommel… If I was going to try to paint them as SS, other then using a cocktail stick for all of them what would you recommend I do to capture the “feel” of their look?
At that size paint brown. Flick spots of very bright green or orange depending on autumn or spring. And then strong brown wash.
@nogbadthebad It might be worth asking the question on the forum at http://www.sammustafa.com
@nogbadthebad
A man after my own heart
are you just putting pink strips on the face’s or painting them john.
I will be painting them.
to modern with grease panted faces?
Really like the dry brushing of the camp. Will have to try that on mine.
Don’t know if I could ever bring my self to play with an SS army . But that camo sure looks good man. Can’t wait to see the final product. You make it look easy John, great work!
Yet again another excellent series. I’m going to get me some of these guys. I’m looking forward to seeing the next step. Keep ’em coming John 🙂
Thanks @Torros and @avernos for advice, I’ll take the plunge and add another couple of armies to my growing pile of lead… Are either of you guys looking at the Rommel rules? Although I will get some minis, am almost tempted to “Boardgame” the whole thing as even the terrain feels abstract enough you could get away with it…
@nogbadthebad. Yup I am looking at Rommel and doing it now 3mm. But I have 6mm Parthian army to finish first, then theres my 2mm Thirty Years War to think about and maybe A 2mm Napoleonic setup for Blucher. I need to prioritize big time
Just in case you missed it as I put a full stop at the end of your name
