Great work John. Thank you really enjoying this lot of vlogs
suddenly poundland dustpan and brush sets don’t seem so useless….. awesome work with the antenna
you have Gerry to thank for them 🙂
They work for any scale as well which is great. They also work really well for pikes(not the fish) in 6mm
Bets on how long it will take for Warren to pull off some antennas? I can hear… “boing boing boin…pop. John!”
Thnx for the Vlogs John.. was very nice to follow it each day.. Antennas are a very good idea 🙂
@johnlyons I am no expert on WW2 tank antennas, however it strikes me that the one on the Tiger is not exactly in the best place for dealing with the traverse of the gun barrel.
This is a valid point. It looks like bad placement, but the Antenna base is a rubber block that allows gun traverse by simply letting the gun push it to one side. Same on the US tanks, except their base is a coil spring that allows the same movement.
fair enough 🙂
Looking good , the only problem I see with the glued in antennas is you need a really deep box to transport the tanks to a game , others you might break them . I use .5mm Plastruct plastic rod . Jut drill a hole and insert , remove for transport . All my tanks have the same length antenna so if one does break I can replace it easily ( always have extras stored in Stalin hull ) , a $5 pack of Plastuct will give you about 40 plus 2 1/4 inch long antennas
If you transport them laying on one side there would be no issue with transport… I think…
Surely that is the point of using flexible brush strands, they should bend during storage and then spring back up when taken out of the box?
pretty much exactly that, as long as you don’t flatten them hard they’ll bend back up. I normally drill down and it gives them a better glue point
Very happy to see that the weathering isn’t too heavy. Quite like the dusty look.
Great idea on the antennas!!!
@johnlyons have loved this vlog! Thank you for uploading and sharing how you did this project 🙂 Looking forwards to seeing some bat reps with these models included.. so tempted to do tank war now!! Just don’t have the money to do it in 28mm
a bit more mud/clumps on the wheels/suspension perhaps John.
looking good, can’t wait to see the finished tanks on the table
You need at least one Tank with a commander in the hatch. Have you thought about storage? Crates extra road wheels and track links?
