back with adding sound 😀
crikey that was quick!! great job John. They’re looking deadly 🙂
very nice, great work John, looking forward to seeing more.
excellent. I am painting a desert rats force so these vlogs are great.
How would you apply said technique to an Imperial ATST for Star Wars Legion? Im asking for a friend. Its his first army for his first game. I know you say the sponge and applying the colour is for the desert wearing away at the new paint job revelaing the previous. Since Imperial ATSTs are grey, what colour would one use to do such an affect and what real world logic would apply to it, ie. corrosion. Thanks in advance!
Hey Mage. For something like an ATST, since it’s grey you can go straight to a dark brown to represent the grey paint being chipped and flaking off to reveal bare metal. Then you could get a touch of silver paint (I like gun metal for this) and do a second VERY light pass with the sponge gain over the chipped edges. So you get a nice mix of “old” wear and “new” wear. Hope this helps 🙂
Thats awesome, thanks very much @johnlyons can’t wait to try this with my friend on his two walkers. Love the hobby VLOGs you do. On a seperate note, having seen you do armies for Historicals, the Prussonians and Soul War starter, it would be interesting to see you do a completely converted army from the ground up with all plastics, if that idea is any interest for you in a future project. Chris Peach from GW converted a mixed Order army for AoS and used all different sorts of models, conversions and stuff. It looks beautiful. Seeing a BoW project… Read more »
Great work john.
Looking good John?
Looking great so far, on my DAK flames of war tanks I painted the tracks a very dark red/brown which seems to be the patina bare metal takes on in the Desert environment, I then use dust colour pigment over the top and fix it. When it’s dry I scrub the tracks to wear off the pigment on the parts of the track in contact with the ground. It looks quite effective and quick to do.
The weathering looks deceptively easy.
I guess it is all a matter of deciding what colour would be underneath the top coat and using that one to do the chipping effect.
It’s not deceptively easy it is really easy to do, plus it’s fun to do and you cannot go wrong with it:-)
looking good. surprised how quick they are going.
