Unboxing: Bolt Action Flammpanzerwagen
September 2, 2015 by dignity
Things are heating up as the guys take a look at the SD.KFZ 251/16 Flammpanzerwagen for Bolt Action. This is a German half-track with the addition of two flame projectors mounted on the sides of the vehicle. Flame On!
The crew for this vehicle are dressed for the occasion with protective headgear and more encompassing a hoods, scarves and goggles. As John points out they wouldn't look out of place in a Weird World War setting.
Bolt Action players; how would you utilise the flames?
Another great show guys. Definitely agree that flame weapons, especially armored vehicles, should have some kind of morale or rout check effect on enemy infantry. That was half the point. Even in the Pacific, where the US Marine Corps made extensive use of flame-throwing Shermans, the Japanese (who practically never retreated or surrendered) would at least fall back to the next bunker rather than face down that jet of incineration. I’ve also heard a story (could totally not be true) where a British / Canadian unit was trying to clear a German bunker out of one of the Channel ports… Read more »
Very nice kit.
Some Info for the (cryptic) numbers and letters of german Equipment.
SdKfz means “Sonderkraftfahrzeug” (something like: Special purpose vehicle). It is in Front of nearly every german militarily used vehicle.
251 is the number for this specific vehicle… like 182 for the King Tiger.
/16 means the used weaponry here the flamethrowers. /10 would be armed with an AA gun.
Ausf.D belongs to the 251. It’s the 4th version of the chassis… like Mk.II for a british Hurricane Fighter aircraft.
That’s the way (nearly) all german stuff can easily be encrypted 😉
Note: /10 is the Pak36, AA gun is /17
Neat little kit. Those unused seated plastic infantry could be used to bulk up the passengers in ordinary 251/1D’s.
It looks hmmm… kinky? 😉
“It’s lost its passenger carrying capacity . . .” Who would want to RIDE in this thing?
“No worries, Otto. You and your men just have a seat and make yourself comfortable on that gasoline tank. Uh oh, watch out . . . the enemy is shooting TRACER rounds at us . . . Good think you’re behind this partial steel plating, right?” 🙂
Well, at least a ride in this thing could be a blast 😉
Well said. A real “scorching good time.” 😀
I’m not surprised to get naff jokes on such a hot topic but these are flaming rubbish.
