Perry Miniatures Goes Mobile With Guns For The British
September 10, 2015 by stvitusdancern
It is always interesting to see what human ingenuity can come up with in time of need, say in the desert in 1941 fighting a large armoured force. As they say,"necessity is the mother of inventions".
Now, Perry Miniatures brings us one such example in this finely detailed miniature of a Morris Portee with the Bofors 37mm anti-tank gun. Imagine racing around the desert lying in the bed of this open truck and trying to sight in an enemy vehicle and trying to hit it. Yes, I know they more than likely were stationary when firing the weapon.
But, doesn't seem cooler the way I described it? If you are familiar with military personnel, you will know that soldiers will attempt to use any piece of equipment in a way not intended or designed, but in many cases works even better than the actual use and instructions.
This fine miniature includes the vehicle, three man crew, and the stowage that would make this a fine piece to anyone's North African British / Commonwealth Army. It is for 28mm and is made of metal and resin. It will go nicely with the new Bolt Action campaign book, Duel in the Sun, due out in February 2016.
I imagine several of you has been tempted to get into battle in this theater of war with Oriskany's wonderful series on the North African campaigns.
What do you think of this miniature?
"Imagine racing around the desert lying in the bed of this open truck and trying to sight in an enemy vehicle and trying to hit it..."
Beautiful!
Dear Perry’s,
Please stop producing miniatures, as I can’t help but buy them in quantity. And with every magnificent sculpt, I come one step closer to living under a bridge 🙂 .
nice.
spiffing. now to take it to the Bosch and give him a damn good thrashing 😉
I get more and more tempted to do 8th Army for Chain of Command 🙂
