Warlord Open Up Pre-Orders For Bolt Action Market Garden Campaign Book
January 5, 2018 by thisisazrael
Coming in February, Warlord Games are releasing a Market Garden campaign book for Bolt Action.
"The Allies plan to end the war early by using the elite Allied Airborne army, the British XXX Corps and an ambitious plan. This is Campaign: Market Garden, where elite Airborne troops race to deliver the killing thrust that could open the road into Germany."
It's the greatest airborne operation ever mounted and the setting opens up loads of tabletop action from daring attacks and last stands to veteran paratroopers to determined ground resistance.
The book focuses on just nine days in September 1944 and is focused on a single narrow route through the Netherlands.
"The fighting was incredibly intense; you’ll find bullets, blood, bombs, and bravery in abundance. The Allies struggled to keep the road open and the Germans struggled to cut it, so both sides engaged in attacks and counter-attacks over the same ground and therefore faced the same challenges."
The book itself is 116 pages of history, photographs, artwork and a bunch of new rules and units.
Here's a summary of what you'll get inside:
- Campaign Overview
- Timeline
- Prelude to Market Garden
- The Original Bolt Action Scenarios
- Market Garden Forces (This section includes the American Forces, British or Polish forces, British XXX Corps Resistance fighters, and German forces).
- 26 scenarios (including American scenarios, British Airborne scenarios, War in a small space: A Campaign Game, On To Oosterbeek…, Driel: Polish Airborne Scenarios, Hell’s Highway: The Road to The Reich, Space-Saving Scenarios and Going Solo)
- Legends of Market Garden
Alongside the book you also get a special figure, the "Never Surrender" model.
Overall it's looking like a great way to get into the setting of Market Garden and something to bring to your local club to spice up some interest.
What's been your experience with tabletop campaign books?
Market Garden is worthy of this. I think this release will finally tip the balance for me getting back into 28mm ww2.
Yes indeed! And no better time than now to get to the period, we’re spoiled for choice in both metal and plastic models in 28mm WW2.
I’m sorry we don’t have the facilities to take you all prisoner, sorry. Was there anything else?
The callled it the Netherlands … yes, finally … justice !
(sorry ;-))
This one is going on my list that’s for sure.
I wonder what the resistance fighters are like in this book.
Battlegroup had them as ‘local knowledge’, which makes sense for the scale of that game.
That looks good.
I see the free postage still applies, it would be rude not to take advantage

Amazing campaign book cant wait to start playing!
I own two Bolt Action campaign books: “New Guinea” and “Battle for Berlin”. In “New Guinea” we a given a brief history of the campaign, which is interesting, and furthermore some new units for existing forces and, in a way, a new army book for the Australians. Several new rules are introduced, f. i. sentries, perilous jungle etc. This is great. And there are loads of scenarios to play and army lists to try. Because I was so pleased with this, I got the campaign book “Battle for Berlin”, too. I expected a book concentrating on the battle in Berlin… Read more »
Looks like solid expansion for Bolt Action to me.
First looks on the WG website leave a really good impression….and hey, anyway, it’s Market Garden, so I’m buying into this..:-)
As hubbie is ex-AAC it would be rude not to!
My favorite battles. One reason I became a paratrooper. In the 82nd we honored the history of this battle. Besides a group of 82nd troops did one of the most brave and insane river crossings ever. As a kid my whole impression of British people was as cool and suave as the guys in Arnhem. I will be grabbing this for sure!
I have been looking forward to this for some time! I have a Grenadier Guards Sherman Platoon up and painted, which I have not used yet. I have Vicktor Graebner in his “Pinched” British Armoured car, and just need to finish Joe Vandeleur so that he can ride in his armoured car.
I love the film and the history, and look forward to building up more forces to play this.
Im totally into getting that book!
At the moment Im painting up my british airborne as Kings own scottish borderers, who participated in the mission at Arnhem as a glider company…mostly because I have a bagpiper model I want to use and then it allows me to play some bagpipe music before the battle starts to destroy the morale of my opponent!
I’ve got a 1000+ point British Parachute Regiment army. This is the book I’ve been waiting for!
